I currently have a shark hoover but it doesn't always pick up well. Doesn't pick up backwards and the suction has gone down. I've had it for about 3 years now.

Im looking to replace it in the Black Friday sale but I don't know which to go for. I've heard mixed reviews on Dyson and Shark hoovers.

Can anyone recommend a good hoover that picks up well, has anti wrap hair please.

TIA x

Vax blade - love it. I've got the pet version and can't fault it.

Sold our rubbish shark and bought a Henry the Hoover- which is perfect!

We have a dog, 4x chickens that come in the kitchen, a toddler, gloss tiled floors and I have super long hair so you can imagine the mess and honestly, the best hoover I’ve used is a Henry!

Corded - Miele C3.
Cordless - Dyson V11 through V15. Brilliant vacuums, far superior to previous models. Although I'd never live with just a cordless, I have both models at home.

I've got a Dyson, one of the upright corded ones.

It's really good, but I do have to keep on top of maintenance and effectively have it 'serviced' about every 18 months. (Basically, a cheerful woman comes round, takes it away, takes it apart, replaces a few parts and then cleans the absolute fuck out of it. It comes back with the suction power of a collapsing star again.)

You're unlikely to get a Dyson in the Black Friday sales, mind.

We have 3 giant hairy dogs, a cat and 3 children.

Henry is the only one that’s survived the test. Shark wasn’t worth looking at after a week!

CrimsonThunder · 16/11/2022 14:33

I was going to say the Shark 😂😂 I love mine it's really reliable and deals with DD's very long and shedding hair! Honestly she's worse than a pet! 😂

FuckabethFuckor · 16/11/2022 14:37

You could look at getting your Shark serviced/refurbished. Might be cheaper than a new one. Many of the engineers who do Dyson servicing should do Shark as well.

Pixiedust1234 · 16/11/2022 14:44

Placemarking as I'm hoping for a good recommendation of an upright shark too. I have the one that folds over for storage. Its absolutely brilliant for picking up DDs hair but won't stay upright which annoys me more than it should.

SEBO. (german make available in UK). Beautifully designed and works perfectly.

sidesplittinglol · 16/11/2022 18:59

See I've had a Henry before but the cylinder one and it wasn't that great.

But sounds like it may be the way to go?

This didn't cross my mind actually but would they after so long?

Silly question perhaps, but have you been maintaining it over the years? Cleaning the sponge filter and all the bits?

sidesplittinglol · 16/11/2022 20:41

Not a silly question at all @Snappyteabread I have done but probably not as often as I should 🙈

I clean mine pretty regularly and it makes a huge difference.

Fleur405 · 16/11/2022 21:25

When my Dyson died I asked me cleaner what she’d recommend and she said a Henry hoover! We have a cat and it seems to do a good job.
