To ask how to stop overthinking?

It’s taking over my life. I overthink everything. I know it has its place such as when I took my first child on first ever holiday long haul I did so much research and was so well prepared that it was a lovely holiday. For second didn’t overthink to that extent and I could feel it was a different experience (in a negative way) and it was. I’m just giving an example.

I have in the past had lots of compliments about my overthinking and people comment I’m so prepared and “think of everything” that’s why I didn’t see it as a problem I thought it helped me be better organised and dependable person, BUT it is ruining my life. I overthink too much. Please help me with your experience/advice.

I've always been a chronic over-thinker. I've tried a couple of really helpful CBT apps which help challenge unhelpful thoughts.

I too overthink and not always about pleasant things so I become anxious.

There are youtube music videos which specifically target overthinking and are quite relaxing. Here is one: youtube.com/watch?v=mSXywbYzh90

I also do deep breathing exercises to calm down.

Of course I still over think but the above do help at the time and I am generally better.

Good luck.
