I am 30 year old woman living in the south east who had to take an extension placement on my primary PGCE, I finished my placement just after October half term. The problem is I will have to wait at least 2 months until my QTS is awarded. Agencies have said I will only be able to do TA work with them until my QTS is awarded. Schools’s are advertising jobs to start on 1 January but I know on that specific date my QTS will not have come through. I feel lost a bit and my life is on hold until my QTS comes through officially.

I'm sure the Trust I work for said they would consider unqualified teachers with a view to qualifying so it may be worth getting in touch with some local schools to see if they would be able to accommodate you in any way, even if it's a temporary post until your QTS comes through.

Can you do something like tutoring to tide you over for now, and then apply for jobs after February half term? I know it’s a long wait, but I’m sure lots of tutoring companies are keen for new staff, especially around this time of year, and if you explain your circumstances to the tuition agency, it’s likely they’ll have short-term jobs available that you can do. Good luck!
