To leave 2 under 2 in the house while I walk to get dc no 3 from childminder 5 doors down the road

Quick pulse - as the title says I have 2 under 2 at home with me now. Dc No 1 is school age and gets picked up by the childminder who lives 5 doors from us.

Should I pack up the 2 babies in a pushchair to walk 2 mins up the road to get dc 1 or risk it and leave them in the bouncer while I run up the road to get dc no 3?

Mine came with me to the loo/shower while small as I didn't want to leave them on their own.

If I was cooking they would be playing either in the highchair or some pots on the floor etc. Depending on age. I wouldn't leave them.

What law? I don't think there is a law about the age a child can be left but it is against the law to leave them if the situation is precarious or dangerous

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 23/11/2022 11:44

There's no legal age a child can be left home alone, but it’s against the law to leave a child alone if it puts them at risk

So you don't know what you're talking about @PunkyBrewster76

If I put my 1yr old in his play pen and nipped round to the neighbour 5 doors down and back in under five minutes (or more likely less time), that's not leaving a child in danger.

Why is it more likely to happen if I nip out for two minutes rather than if I go to the garden or upstairs to put washing away or even go for a poop?
You could think up any ridiculous scenario but the likelihood it isn't going to happen. And hasn't.
Some people and just anxious worry warts but luckily most of us use logic.

It's not neglectful.
I can go upstairs have a shower whilst DS is in his pen. Is that neglectful? No. You cannot go through life on the "what ifs" you'd never get anything done.

Leaving 2 under 2's in the house alone is abit different to nipping upstairs.

@JosieTess huh?

It's because a number of posters on this thread are

  1. First time or only posters
  1. Make the same mistakes again and again, as in PP and OP
  1. Have had their posts deleted

That's

@PunkyBrewster76 @Chasingclouds100
@WonderingWanda

So that's why it's huh! It's so bloody obvious! It's embarrassing.

Stop stalking me, on this and other threads, you're showing yourself up!

That also includes JossieTess on another thread, which was also deleted 🥱.

I am in contact with MN, but will be in further contact tomorrow, to see if I can take this further, probably not, but my god I'm going to try!

@Conkersareback did you mean to name me in your last post? I can't really see why but am guessing you meant @Wonder8 who you have been engaging with?

You are totally correct, it was @Wonder8.

I'm sorry, please accept my apology.

Wow! Such a lot of people leaving their children on their own - I’m shocked that people think this is ok!
