Noisy neighbour boiler

Next door have a boiler that goes on and off in circles through the night making a low hum but intermittently. It keeps me constantly awake and I'm getting rather distressed by it :( I nod off then am woken up - every 20 minutes.

A lot of it may be that I'm tuned into it but also I've tried everything ear plugs, white noise its a resonating hum/vibration that seems to cut through rather than noise. There's not another room I can go to as it affects the whole house apart from the bathroom. The boiler sits on our party wall.

it's rented and the landlord doesn't think there is an issue - the tenants have tried, but quite rightly don't want to be commanded when they have their heating on or not. It only stops if they turn their heating off through the night.

I agreed with the tenants before that it goes off at 11pm and on at 6ish which was fine - in the day i don't care (even though it's still annoying)

It's starting to affect my mental health really and my work as I'm catching 2 hours sleep max.

What can i do? Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Will the council be involved as it's not say party music all night.

Hi there, firstly i would like to say how pleased i am that you've been able to identify this terrible dangerous noise because i believe that they will be millions of other people suffering with it like me and not knowing what the hell it is, i was convinced it was the HUM phenomena people mention but it is neighbours boilers in attached houses sending dangerous and potentially deadly low frequency humming and infrasound waves into your home through the cavity walls which act as some sort of amplification chamber and is very dangerous to human health,
You will find that the people responsible won't want to acknowledge this because of the huge financial problems and they are just letting us all suffer the mental and physical distress, someone needs to make som sort of stand and have this dealt with because its been mentioned in other articles by experts in this field that humans suffering from this kind of low frequency sound can become extremely dangerous and some mass murders have been known to be sufferers, don’t try and live with it you need to do something about it, i was feeling very ill all the time and being driven mad throughout the night and when i finally identified the problem i started experimenting with delta waves music, it may even bother your neighbours enough for them to switch off their heating throughout the night, let me know if you want any more info o that and ill send you some good links, and please don't take this problem lightly because it is a very serious issue which i known from person experience, if you are good with social media which I'm not unfortunately it might be a good platform to start some sort of discussion that gets more people involved and help they didn't know they needed because as i said earlier there's probably lots of people who don't know why they are suffering and cant even hear the dangerous low frequency that gas boilers are emitting but feel the effects all the same

Gas boilers are damaging human health with the low frequency humming noise travelling through walls in neighbouring properties
Not many people can hear the lower frequency noise but may well still be affected by the infrasound waves interference with sleeping at night when neighbours have their heating coming on,
Experts in this field have expressed their concerns about the affects of low frequency sounds on humans but the energy companies won't listen because of the humongous financial costs to fix this potentially lethal problem, so we are not only getting ripped off by them but also having our mental and physical health damaged in the process

I may be able to help you with this very serious problem which i have also been suffering with for a long time,
It made me very I'll and it has taken me years to identify the cause because i just thought l was one of the people who could hear that lower frequency hum noise that people talk about
It is the gas boiler noise travelling through cavity walls from neighbouring properties which some people can hear but others cant, but still maybe suffering from the infrasound which is very dangerous to human health

Try having a word with the landlord if you think it is something to do with the boiler as it's dow to them to make the repairs .

I feel for you! My elderly neighbour has Air Source heating that kicks in at 4.00 am everyday. I know this because it sounds like a jet taking off right by my head!!! There are rules about where the unit has to be placed in relation to the property but because she is elderly I don't want to worry her. The property is owned by a housing association and they won't do anything. I tried Environmental Health and they wrote to the HA but nothing happened.

Did you get anywhere with this? I'm in a similar situation, inky my beighb6is aggressive.
