Don’t click the link - log into your online banking yourself and check your transactions.

JudithHarper · 13/11/2022 16:52

I would not click that.

Always4Brenner · 13/11/2022 16:53

Scam don’t press link whatever you do.

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 13/11/2022 16:53

Btw if it turns out the information in the text doesn’t match what you see on your

BritWifeInUSA · 13/11/2022 16:53

You need to ask?

VanCleefArpels · 13/11/2022 16:53

yes it’s a scam

No bank will contact you in this way. If at all uncertain instead of clicking on the link call your bank on the number on the back of your card and ask if you have been contacted by them

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 13/11/2022 16:53

… online banking, then please report the text:

(sorry posted too soon)

Hooverphobe · 13/11/2022 16:54

Seriously? Doesn’t the URL give you ANY info? 🤔

fjäl · 13/11/2022 16:55

Really? Very obviously a scam.

claudiasfringe33 · 13/11/2022 16:55

I thought the link URL looked pretty genuine to be honest

Sure cause Santander claimed "online banking" as their alternative Web link....

It's a scam, don't press it but please report it 😊

It doesn't even have the name of the bank in it. Plus your bank would never contact you in this way.

Don't be silly.

claudiasfringe33 · 13/11/2022 17:00

Thank you for your help. I'm clearly very stupid.

OP posts:
SpookyPanda · 13/11/2022 17:02

No you're not very stupid but perhaps you need to brush up on keeping yourself safe online

OnTheBoardwalk · 13/11/2022 17:02

Hi OP.

Copy the message and forward it to 7726 (SPAM). This helps your wireless provider spot and block similar messages in the future.

maddiemookins16mum · 13/11/2022 17:25

The unusual wording is the giveaway.

maddiemookins16mum · 13/11/2022 17:27

Especially the ‘Not you, advance to’. It’s poorly written.

ThisMeetingCouldHaveBeenAnEmail · 13/11/2022 17:28

It is a scam, BUT my bank does text me when I set up standing orders or make payments. The difference is, they put part of the account number in the text and don't ask me to click any links if it is an error

Sparklesocks · 13/11/2022 17:29

no bank’s url would be just be generic ‘online banking’

ToTheCrystalDome · 13/11/2022 17:31

The only time I 'advance to' is if I'm going to Mayfair.

TiptoeThroughTheToadstools · 13/11/2022 17:42

Santander have a spoof text service, you can forward it on to them. I got a text exactly like that and I am not, and never have been with Santander
