Peter Kay tickets

Been reading about the thousands and thousands of people snapping up Peter Kay tickets, or , finding it difficult to get hold of them….
But in the same breath , everyone’s complaining about the “cost of living” , that they haven’t got the money for their energy bills/ mortgages/ food , etc, etc, but - Peter Kay tickets? - no problem, money found!
How does that work?
( I haven’t been trying to get tickets, by the way, much as I like him).

If budgets are that tight, where do you suddenly find the money ?

I mean, the logical assumption is that the people buying Peter Kay tickets are not exactly the same people who are barely keeping their heads above water due to the CoL crisis. Do you have any evidence to the contrary? Given there are millions of people in the UK, it’s not that hard to fathom. Mind your own business.

TeachesOfPeaches · 13/11/2022 09:00

Peter Kay purposely kept the prices very low so they're only £30 / £40 with some dates 3 years away.

ShowOfHands · 13/11/2022 09:01

How do you know where on the venn diagram "haven't got money for bills"/"can afford tickets to overrated comedian" everybody falls?

Welcome to society. Some people are in abject poverty. Some are rich enough never to work again.

Magentax · 13/11/2022 09:01

They might be different people perhaps OP?

Bunda · 13/11/2022 09:03

Judgmental much?

LabiaMinoraPissusFlapus · 13/11/2022 09:04

Tickets were reasonably priced and I think the tickets can be sold back to the O2/AXS if you choose to.

amiold · 13/11/2022 09:12

So people struggling with their bills shouldn't organise a treat in the future? Tickets started at £41 with the fee so hardly breaking the bank.

CliffordMystery · 13/11/2022 09:28

I think £40 is expensive for a ticket to see a comedian actually. I see loads of comedians (who are a lot better than Peter Kay) and the tickets are about half that. I don’t think £80 for two people to see Peter Kay in presumably a stadium is exactly a bargain!

On the point of the thread though, obviously these people are not the people who can’t afford food or heating.

Heyahun · 13/11/2022 10:18

Lolz ! Heaps of people are not struggling though! Glastonbury sold out as quick as ever! 🙈

Magentax · 13/11/2022 13:18

Peter Kay tickets seems such a weird thing to chose as proof nobody is poor. Why not point at Porsche sales or trips to the Caribbean or something.

Fairyliz · 13/11/2022 13:21

I had exactly the same thought op.
We constantly read on MN about how everyone is starving or going to freeze to death but then events like this come up and the website crashes because of demand.
Yes I know times are hard for some people, but I think the media are talking us into a recession.

Kez200 · 13/11/2022 13:28

What's the UK population - well in excess of 60 million?

There will be a tiny handful of those that have money to spend on a night out. Many have waited 12 years to see him after the refund on the tour he cancelled. They have months to save this money. Some would probably sit in the cold and dark for a month if it meant they could go.

It's choices and realising not everyone is in the exact same boat whilst also realising there are millions out there that, despite Peter Kay selling out, would have loved to have gone but are making daily choices between food and heating.

It's not just that it's the petrol and the parking etc.

It's supply and demand. Loads of people will.pay because he is so popular.

Jedsnewstar · 13/11/2022 13:37

Is this going to be the go to for everything now. Someone shared on FB their Christmas dinners but I though everyone was broke, must be lies. Ffs op give your head a wobble.

columbo83 · 13/11/2022 13:42

Lots of people have money to afford various things.
Personally I have no spare money for treats so I didn't try for them.
That's it really.

Damnautocorrect · 13/11/2022 13:42

You could pay on Klarna for the tickets, plus credit cards. People who can, will cut back on other things to afford treats and nights out. Things to look forward to.

you worry about the petrol and parking tomorrow, the ticket today.

Simplepink · 13/11/2022 13:52

I just looked and they’re £130 a pop on most sites now!

Yep lots of people will wait for the dvd or bits will appear on you tube.

ApolloandDaphne · 13/11/2022 13:56

It can't really be a surprise to you that not everyone is struggling financially to the point of abject poverty. A lot of people have tightened their belts for sure, us included, but still have a bit left for treats and nice things to look forward to.

NCFT0922 · 13/11/2022 13:56

It’s pretty obvious that not everyone is struggling and on a tight budget.

They really arent that cheap, none of them were. The cheapest are actually £50 rising to a 4 seat package at the 02 for over a thousand pounds.

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 13/11/2022 13:57

I don't know anyone in real life who is struggling so much that they can't afford a £40 ticket for something that is happening in 2023 or 2024.

DripDripDripSugar · 13/11/2022 13:57

Because not everyone is struggling to pay the bills and some people still have disposable income. Also I’m sure a lot of people are willing to put this kind of thing on credit cards.

Damnautocorrect · 13/11/2022 13:43

You'll still have to pay it so you might as well factor it in now.
