Uber stealing Asda orders

Sereyah · 12/11/2022 09:38

I’ve had a terrible time ringing around this morning as I ordered from Asda online and Uber are stating they delivered my order an hour ago. They didn’t and I’ve searched the whole property (70,00 order and 8.50 delivery fee). All stuck isolating and I have cigarettes in there which have to use I.d. For so they have to knock for my date of birth. I’m so annoyed as I’ve used most of my funds with me not getting paid until next Friday. They are now stating I have to wait 24-48 hrs to hear from someone and that’s before I even get to have them refund me. It’s unfair as I won’t be refunded until next Wednesday-Friday and don’t have the spare cash but that’s if they refund me; they are refusing at the moment. I’ve looked on Facebook and it’s a common pattern with Uber drivers stating they have delivered orders or have kept part of the orders stating the full delivery

It doesn't matter what OP ordered or what company are delivering it - she paid for the shopping and the service and someone has stolen it.

Can you contact your bank OP? They might be able to cancel the card payment and get your funds back quicker than paying for Uber Eats to get their finger out.

I'm not sure if this helps you but I've had a same-day delivery from Morrisons through Amazon before. Unfortunately the prices are bumped up there too, but if you can afford even a smaller shop until your original money is refunded it might tide you over. I think they are more reliable than Uber Eats.

Ignore the sanctimonious tits who are trying to dictate how you spend your cash.

Tyrozet · 12/11/2022 10:33

*Quicker than waiting for Uber Eats

Squeezylemonsqueezy · 12/11/2022 11:00

It is quite a big problem where I work to be honest. We have to watch the drivers accept the order before we hand them the goods to prevent orders from 'disappearing' and even though we are covered in cameras which show the drivers collecting full orders,we still get refund requests from deliveroo/uber the next day for items which were clearly packed,so stolen/'lost' by the drivers en route to customers.

melj1213 · 12/11/2022 11:24

I work for a supermarket that does Uber orders and they are the bane of our lives! The drivers are often rude and pushy (if the Home Shopper at the collection point is busy helping someone when they arrive they either start huffing and puffing because they have to wait a minute or two or start arguing with them about the fact they're busy and can't wait etc) and we get so many complaints from Uber deliveries regarding missing items/not delivered orders etc at a much higher rate than for our in house deliveries.

It is also a massive pain because customers can't get through to Uber so they ring the store and I'm the one who takes those calls. People are, rightly, annoyed but there is nothing I can do - as far as the store is concerned we have done our job (picking/packing the order) and the issue is with Uber for the delivery but it doesn't stop me getting people's anger and upset over the phone or coming in.

We can't refund/replace directly with the customer as it would create a loss that we can't reclaim from Uber and the company isn't going to just take continual losses because of a third party's stealing but many customers don't understand this and assume that if they ordered from the supermarket then the supermarket will fix it.

I know it's not all Uber delivery drivers who are dishonest but I wish there was a better/easier way of reporting them and/or that stores could blacklist certain drivers as we noticed that there were one or two drivers who had multiple "missing" items in almost every delivery.

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 12/11/2022 11:30

The problem is humans

Our coop use robots to deliver. They are v reliable and cute!

IncessantNameChanger · 12/11/2022 11:32

tenbob · 12/11/2022 09:53

Obviously they shouldn’t be stealing orders but if you can afford to buy cigarettes, you can afford to lose it. You were literally going to set fire to that money anyway so it’s nothing critical, is it?

I don't think that justified her shopping being stolen does it? Honestly? You buy wine so obvs have money to spare so it's OK.to steal from you car on drive so ok to steal the food? Roof over your head? Money to get food delivered? Money to buy food? So ok to steal unless your living in a box in which case you shouldn't be robbed off.

Op go flagulate yourselves for buying food.

Tiani4 · 12/11/2022 11:41

Al these PPs getting it wrong
It is NORMAL asda shopping prices but fast UBER £8.50 delivery (partner) same day - if you have no car , are disabled and aada is a few miles away- it is still cheaper to buy from Asda with Uber as delivery partner than to pay for carer to do your shopping for you.

People are making so many assumptions here

I suspect OPs urgency is not just the missing shopping and missing money, but that their last money for cigarettes is gone and won't come back for 5 days at least now

OP is right to be annoyed, as that Uber person recorded shopping as delivered - fully knowing they had lot delivered as with any cig purchase they need to see ID for DOB from customer.

Uber don't always refund, as it's hard to prove they didn't deliver they will take word first time but sometimes after then not..

I would be hopping mad if I were OP

Tiani4 · 12/11/2022 11:43

Also when I've. It has a delivery from Uber, I have rung spoken to Theo customer services and they have arranged for FULL order to be sent within an hour. Yo them it is a loss as that previous Uber person stole the shopping but they were great.

You are absolutely right. If you got mugged for whatever device you’re writing this on then it’s fine because you could afford to buy it and you can afford to lose it so what’s the biggie.

Are you always such a twat or is it a national holiday I don’t know about today?

YellowTreeHouse · 12/11/2022 11:47

@melj1213 You can ban individual drivers from your store. It’s really easily done, you just ring up Uber with their information and they are blocked from your store.

Nobody is getting it wrong. The prices of Asda (and other supermarkets) via Uber is inflated.

For example, 800g Warburtons Toastie Thick Sliced Bread is £1.25 on Asda Delivery and £1.50 if you buy it from Asda via Uber.

2 Pints of Whole Milk is £1.30 on Asda Delivery and £1.56 on Asda via Uber.

550g of Cathedral City Mature Cheddar Cheese is £4.70 on Asda Delivery and £5.64 on Asda via Uber.

So if every penny counts, you shouldn’t be paying unnecessary inflated prices.

What's the weather like up there on the moral high ground?

NewNovember · 12/11/2022 12:02

@Tyrozet morrisons via amazon is the same price as their own website.

NerrSnerr · 12/11/2022 12:02

@tenbob are you saying it's ok for someone to steal from the OP because you don't approve of what she's bought?

Tiani4 · 12/11/2022 12:18

@YellowTreeHouse

Nobody is getting it wrong. The prices of Asda (and other supermarkets) via Uber is inflated.

No it's not @YellowTreeHouse you have muddled up your Apps

You are mistaken aay you are talking about OP ordering through the Uber app from Asda (where they select from list of retailers) however I explained in my post if you order from ASda - ie from the Asda app - but choosing UBER express (same say delivery) as their delivery partner, it is SAME PRICE SHOPPING but higher deliver costs as Uber of £8.50. There is no change to products cost.

It is really annoying when a poster misunderstands and wrongly tries to correct other people ! Hmm

(It does however leave OP in difficult position of either two for parties to claim off of , each blaming the other )

Tiani4 · 12/11/2022 12:19

Ah bold fail!!
Second paragraph
Nobody is getting it wrong. The prices of Asda (and other supermarkets) via Uber is inflated.
In my post was supposed to be in bold as that was Yellow's mistaken reply

OldTinHat · 12/11/2022 12:21

The same thing happened to me with Asda and Uber Eats. And like you it was with the last of my money.

I'm afraid I didn't get a refund until nearly three weeks later after I complained on Twitter - and I'm not on any social media apart from here so had to sign up just to complain. Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

amylou8 · 12/11/2022 12:47

I'd be livid in your position, but I suppose I can understand theirs, that they can't just refund without investigating and that takes time. Can you borrow money from someone until it comes back? If you get no joy form Uber then contact your bank.

imaditto · 12/11/2022 13:51

Outrageous

Everyone seems to be missing the fact OP said isolating for covid. Would you rather she went shopping and spent it?

£70 shop doesn't go far for a family isolating for days/week.

So she smokes, we all have vices. I don't like smoking but doing it in her own home is her choice. Bet a load of MBetters wouldn't think twice about a bottle of wine or two a week!

Yep. They're over on style & beauty as well.

BosaNova · 12/11/2022 14:35

The first mistake was to order from asda and via uber.
Have a look at amazon fresh.
1-quick and very reliable
2-next or even same day delivery
3- many items slightly cheaper than asda

Ocado has 20off 60 if first offer and also can deliver next day free

Vates · 12/11/2022 14:53

I hope you get a refund OP. The same thing happened to me over a year ago and I never got a refund in the end. I just never used them again.
