Too much dance

Hi, my daughter currently does 8h dance a week, and I think it’s too much, but my DD insists she’s ok. I’m just thinking how this affects her schoolwork.
So what do i do?

monday - 1h Modern dance
Tuesday - 1h ballet
wednesday - 1h Acrobatic dance + 1h hiphop
thursday - 1h Lyrical

Friday - 1h contemporary
Saturday - elite dance + private lesson

My 7, nearly 8 yr old granddaughter does 11 hours gymnastics a week.

I was speaking to a dance physio recently about how much is too much and she said the general rule is their age is the max number of hours a week. So 12 hours a week for a 12yo.

Of course, 11yo dancers at vocational schools will be doing a lot more than that - more like 20 hours a week - but they also have strict rest/nutrition/physio/medical supervision.

Yes, the people we know do very little dance, for example, on weekends. Some grade work perhaps, a bit of swimming and days out.

Hi, I realise this thread is a few months old, but could you possibly tell me what the dance physio said about doing more than those hours? My 7 year old does 12 hours a week.
