Would you want to know if your five year old son's dad was off on weekends away when it was his court ordered weekend and he was shunted between friends and aunties? Happening really regularly at the moment. Is it normal to ask that he lets you know if he's not going to be looking after him between Friday and Monday?

Go back to court.
That's not acceptable.

It sucks for the child of the parent that dgaf but as I've discovered if it's his family then the court will shrug it off.

If he behaved normally then you wouldn't be asking. Deadbeat dad's really suck. Wears away at the self esteem of their child to be rejected time after time - better to walk away completely so they can be surrounded by people who actually care.

Yes, I would want to know. If my child was being looked after by loving grandparents or aunts/uncles etc I don't think I'd necessarily have a problem with it but if it was any friend he could rope in even if my child didn't know them then I would rather he cancelled the contact and let my child stay at home with me.
