Dealing with colleagues

It’s late and I’m mainly posting for traffic. Have you ever worked in a role where you haven’t really gelled with colleagues and don’t really socialise with them outside of work?

If so, how do you navigate it? I’ve always had loads of friends at work but a lot of them have moved on and it’s a bit awkward with the people remaining

Just go in, be polite, get your work done - you don’t need to be friends with your colleagues

What @Shoxfordian said. Work is for working.

Agree with @Shoxfordian. I’ve haven’t socialised with colleagues since my early 20s and I infinitely prefer it that way!

In nearly 30 years of full time work I have never socialised with colleagues other than at all-colleague work events.

I think its a shame there isn't a bit of friendship or socialising. It isn't for everyone, but when I went back to work pt after dc, it was the only chance I got to mix with people I wasn't married to or related to. I'm not particularly socialble and don't really have friends outside of family and siblings. It was nothing like big parties and night clubs, but a walk down to the pub at lunchtime with colleagues in the summer or an occasional meal out was lovely. Work friendships, although they are not long term, help to make the day go along.
If it isn't there then just make the most of it work and career wise.

Thanks all. I am 24 so in that socialising stage and most of the people at work my age don’t really bother with me! They are a bit cliquey and can tell they gossip about me
