we have bed bugs 😭😭😭

I know I’m being unreasonable for posting on here but I am desperate and so so sickened and mortified.

i was lying there and felt itchy lumps on my neck increasing every few seconds. I decided to get up and have a look at my pillow and low and behold a disgusting bed but on my f pillow.

i am now on the couch and my skin won’t stop crawling and itching. It’s mostly phantom itching.. I can’t believe it. How did we get them?? What did we do wrong

we’ve had a baby and have let certain household bits slide, it’s my husband’s responsibility to wash bedcovers, bins, hoovering and clothes washing but he seems to think washing the bedcovers once a month is ok. I hate it and ask him constantly to wash more regularly- prior to baby I would just do it. He also gets into bed pretty much wet after his shower which I constantly tell him not to for this reason.

please please please help me- what do I do? I would have stripped the bed and be hoovering etc tonight If it wasn’t for the baby. As soon as she wakes up tomorrow what exactly do I need to do?

right now I feel like the only answer is to burn the bed

Haha @Caplin your post sounds so sinister but that is exactly what I have been doing I even do it in the middle of the night and I think it really was a one off - something we picked up from the hotel.

talking of hotel- I notified them and they said they would get back to me but have yet to..

Well aren't I hilarious for commenting on this last year... now we've got a problem and yes you can definitely see them 🤯🤯🤯

So so stressed. We can't even have the heat treatment as the house is already upside down with renovations.

My son brought them back from a motel down south a few years ago. I was INSANE !!!.
It actually wasnt as bad as I thought. I bought a bedbug proof mattress cover and replaced all the pillows and comforter. I put double sided tape round the bed legs. I steamed every seam and crevice and joint in the bed frame and dusted with food grade diatomaceous earth. I really steamed everything, not just a quick quirt..
I steamed all along every baseboard and socket, round every picture frame and piece of furniture. Everything, including the floor had diatomaceous earth. Every piece of clothing in the room was frozen for a couple weeks ( I have a HUGE freezer, but laundry is done on cold here but a HOT wash is sposed to work too). I steamed every 2 days for 3 weeks, vacuumed and replaced the diatomaceous earth at the same time. Left all his clothes in freezer for 2 weeks. That was the end of it, never went anywhere else in the house except his room.
Bedbugs dont fly, they crawl so pull the bed from the wall and do the sticky tape on the legs, stops them reaching you if they are not actually in the bedframe but trapped by the cover
The bedbug proof mattress cover, I used till I could afford to replace the mattress, stops them getting out etc. They do work. I was skeeved out at the thought of keeping the cover on for up to 2 years, easier to ditch when you have the money
Really hot steam will kill them and if they survive that diatomaceous earth will finish them off, the stuff is amazing.
Not a fun experience but seriously not as traumatic as I thought it was going to be

They are in the bed frame. We thought we had scabies brought home from nursery but apparently not. We have pest control coming in to treat our room later in the week - really hope we've got on top of it before they spread 🄵
