Heat up leftover fish and chips from last night?

I have half a cod, 1/4 a fishcake and a handful of chips left over. It was kept in the fridge last night. I have just put it in the oven on 200 with foil over. I don't know how long I will leave it in yet...is it safe to eat?!

a) that's gross, don't
b) gross but do it anyway
c) helll yeah!

(we don't like food waste in this house)

As long as its pipping hot again I don't see why this is even a question. Chips can be eaten cold they're not an issue.

They don't taste quite as nice but they're still fine

SpeckledlyHen · 09/11/2022 11:28

I would. No issue with that at all

HollyBerryIvyJoe · 09/11/2022 11:31

I would eat the fish no problem, I can't eat the chips though - tried it before and it wasn't good! I would have made a small baked potato or had some salad on the side...

ThunderMoo · 09/11/2022 11:32

If you can crisp it up go for it

LovelaceBiggWither · 09/11/2022 11:32

Chips revive well in an air fryer but haven't ever had much luck in the oven.

ThunderMoo · 09/11/2022 11:33

Or make a fish cake?

SkylightSkylight · 09/11/2022 11:35

I'd have reheated it in a big fry pan rather than the oven, but no problem reheating it (as long as piping hot) or eating it the next day.

JauntyJinty · 09/11/2022 11:35

Depends on what you mean - I will be perectly safe to eat as long as heated properly - but I can't imagine it will be very nice!

JennyForeigner · 09/11/2022 11:36

We always buy extra chips and air fry them for butties. Yum!

This.

MoggyMittens23 · 09/11/2022 11:37

I haven't got an air fryer 😭they are in the oven. It just all looked a bit sad. But, I'll make sure it's piping hot and just have it anyway!

We always heat up any left over fish and chips. They only take about 10 minutes in a hot oven.
Open baking tray and I usually drizzle some olive oil over the chips before reheating, it stops them drying out.

I wish I had done that...

I've never had leftover chips!

DH ordered too much!

Christ no. They belong in the bin.

Pumpkinpatchlookinggood · 09/11/2022 12:00

No such thing as chippy leftovers here so no idea op!!

JaninaDuszejko · 09/11/2022 12:04

Chips absolutely, I'd leave the fish to DH because I'm not keen on overcooked fish. Perfectly safe though.

BurntOutBusyBee · 09/11/2022 12:06

Crisps are often gross next day but if I was that way inclined I'd still eat them if they were reheated to piping

LBFseBrom · 09/11/2022 12:09

Left over chips are nice gently sauteed with a little pepper, salt and balsamic vinegar.

Chesterdrawsseriously · 09/11/2022 12:12

You can reheat the fish, but I’d not do the chips, we just bin any left over chips. I used to work in a chippy and I find it quite minging to reheat the chips.

HuggsBosom · 09/11/2022 12:13

Helll yeaaaaajh!

I even wash my chicken.

We have cast iron stomachs

Sewfedupofcovid · 09/11/2022 12:28

Our chip shop owner said he reheats his chips in the oven. Mum buys a large portion for her and dad and reheats them, not tried it myself as we always eat the whole bag but she’s says they are fine.

not sure about the rest, but I’d try it, I’d probably not cover with foil, just put into a very hot oven.

TruJay · 09/11/2022 12:29

You have leftover fish and chips?! I scoff every morsel 😁

FurElsie · 09/11/2022 12:36

Nothing wrong with heating up any leftovers, as long as they've been in the fridge. I've gone up to 3 or 4 days in the past 🤷
