Just that really. What is the meaning behind/origin of your username?
I’ll go first: mine is based on the name of a holiday home I visited many years ago now.

It’s the first 2 letters of my 3 kids names

I’d get that deleted if I were you. Or at least if you don’t want your friends to recognise you.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 27/12/2022 08:37

Lyrics from a favourite song

GrimDamnFanjo · 27/12/2022 10:33

It's the name of a video game with a Mumsnet spin!

AramintaLee · 27/12/2022 10:35

A character from Crazy Rich Asians. I went to see the movie with friends and they all said I looked like her.

ICriedAllTheWayToTheChipShop · 27/12/2022 10:51

A lyric from Jilted John, a sort of novelty punk song from the 70s which actually gets pretty tiresome after a couple of listens. Previous names have usually been Half Man Half Biscuit related.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 27/12/2022 10:52

I need coffee before I interact with anyone.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 27/12/2022 10:53

It's the punchline to one of those 'what do you get if you cross ...' jokes, but I've forgotten what you had to cross to get it.😁

bestchristmasever · 27/12/2022 10:57

Because it was.

Longcoldwinter · 27/12/2022 12:11

A Cinderella track from the 1980s. Still listen to them now. Does anyone else?

SinnerBoy · 27/12/2022 12:22

My second favourite Rory Gallagher song. Million Miles Away didn't inspire me as a username.

Butterlover1 · 27/12/2022 12:23

I'm lactose intolerant and miss real butter

KathieFerrars · 02/01/2023 17:32

Chalet School teacher.

XingMing · 02/01/2023 17:50

First name, second name on the instructions for filling in forms in Cantonese.

2chocolateoranges · 02/01/2023 17:56

I always buy 2 chocolate oranges for the kids stockings at Christmas

PlantsHaveTakenOverMyHome · 02/01/2023 18:10

The occasional one throws in the towel and dies on me but there's still too many for most people 😄

downtonupton · 02/01/2023 18:37

I was watching Downton Abbey at the time I had to think of something - also completely unidentifiable as me.

I have one related to my job that I use when answering specific questions about that.

I have a third that is a username I use for a few other things and I use when I know a post could be outing and or is public knowledge - if anyone searched that username they would only find out things they already know.

Line from a poem

Similar - but I’ve flipped the line which is ‘not waving but drowning’, from a poem by Stevie Smith.

Butchyrestingface · 02/01/2023 18:49

I have a face like a well-skept arse.

signandsingcarols · 02/01/2023 19:21

my son was non verbal (autistic) when I started posting on the SN board. We were signing alongside speech, so I was signandsay, then I changed for Christmas hence signandsingcarols..

Tintackedsea · 02/01/2023 19:34

@Wavingnotdrown1ng

I love that Stevie Smith poem!

My one is from Basking Shark by Norman MacCaig

There's a Schiehallion anywhere you go. The thing is, climb it. Smile.

Tintackedsea · 03/01/2023 00:52

@Butchyrestingface

And isn't that just a fine poem?

The "murmurs of oceans" line is a favourite.

One I have pinned up by my desk at work is:

A corner of the road, early morning by Norman MacCaig
The thorny light
Scratched out a lanky rose bush in the air.
Goats had been at it, leaving five flowers there.

Scrabbles of bright
Water ran linking down the pink road. Pink
Rocks shouldered it to the left. The ditch ran ink.
I felt the night
Inside my head, like the one outside it, fade
Till its last shadow swallowed its last shade.
And into sight
Of inner as of outer eye there grew
Shapes into shape, colours becoming true.
By holding tight
To loosing every hold, I began to see
What I was not helping myself to be.
I looked up: white
Against a blue – five suns. And this I wrote
Beneath the constellation of the Goat.
November, 1962
