Just that really. What is the meaning behind/origin of your username?
I’ll go first: mine is based on the name of a holiday home I visited many years ago now.

It is one of my most favourite songs by Prince

Wiaa · 13/11/2022 16:09

What's it all about

merryhouse · 13/11/2022 16:12

In the later Chalet School books, Joey's family live in a house named Freudesheim, which they translate as "happy home". As an adult I decided that a better translation would be "home of joy".

Somewhere along the line that got turned into Merry House, which I eventually realised I was never going to get to bestow upon an actual building, so when I needed a username for livejournal and discovered that ingeniousparadox was already taken "merryhouse" it was.

TeaAndTattoos · 13/11/2022 16:44

Because I drink too many cups of tea and I’m covered in tattoos. My last name on her was the names of my 2 dogs.

@KitchiHuritAngeni - because I'm a bit of a languages geek, I googled the origin of those three names (one is actually my partner's nickname, or nearly!).

Are you Native American? (Although I read the other day that folk actually prefer 'Indian', which is the interesting)

Yes I am, well my dad is, he came over in the war with my grandad, there's a massive backstory as to why they stayed after but there's actually lots of us in the UK as our parents/grandparents came over during the war.

I speak the language fairly well, and we have been to visit my extended family etc there's also meet ups with some of us in the UK sometimes (not since covid so much unfortunatly).

I raise my kids with as much Native culture as I can (I haven't met anyone who is fussed about if they are called Native American or American Indian either, I'm sure some do have preferences though but neither are wrong imo). It's such a beautiful culture to be part of, and I'm hoping when my kids are grown I can spend my twighlight years back there.

Mine just describes me

16HamstersCalledThemAllDave · 13/11/2022 17:39

Mine is from a Joe Tracini commentary on Max Whitlock's horizontal bar routine at the 2020 Olympics. Surreal and very funny

FleecyBlanketPerson · 13/11/2022 18:06

Self explanatory BUT there was a thread about cats and their awful habits...
Basically the cats were wanking into blankets and I thought...

Christ on a bike, my username sounds like I'm taking inspiration from the creepy wanky cats thread.

Ahem, so I don't own cats, just so you know. I just have a house full of blankets 😁 because my DCs have this weird obsession with them.

Thegannethasfled · 13/11/2022 18:44

It is secret code if you know you know if you don't you don't

Muchtoomuchtodo · 13/11/2022 18:47

Fairly self explanatory!

things haven’t changed for a good while so I’ve not name changed

FearofQueefing · 13/11/2022 22:00

If anyone has a username that sounds like it has creepy inspiration...

I think I'm due a change, though. It's funny to precisely three people and the joke's worn off now. I just need to think of something.

CrispsAndChoc · 13/11/2022 22:39

My favourite snacks

Crinkle77 · 13/11/2022 22:42

Mine is my childhood nickname and year of birth.

AppleandSpice · 13/11/2022 22:48

No meaning, I name change regularly so just whatever random shite comes into my head will suffice until I change again!

Itsinthepress · 19/11/2022 23:40

It's in the press was something my Mum said. Meaning it's in the cupboard. "It's in the press in the lobby." "It's in the press in the kitchen." Wish I could hear her shouting that again.

AmadeustheAlpaca · 20/11/2022 00:00

I did an alpaca walk with Bobcat Alpacas in Edinburgh and my woolly pal was called Amadeus. He was so cute, totally bonded with him.

Dalekjastninerels · 20/11/2022 00:02

Mine is from the Doctor Who Episode Doomsday when Dalek Jast said "Wait! Rewind image by nine rels."

CuntyMcBollocks · 27/12/2022 04:35

Was the book called Mistletoe Farm or something? Did Melisande's cousins call her Smellisande?

Furries · 27/12/2022 04:39

Well, if you google my username, you could end up down a rabbit hole 😂

But, for me, it is/was the collective term I used when speaking to friends and family re my pets. Rather than going through them by name, I would just say “the furries are all fine” etc.

Sunnidaze · 27/12/2022 06:49

I wrote it on our letter board when the sun finally came out after days and days of rain, but we are missing lots of letters so it was the closest spelling I could get.

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 27/12/2022 07:10

My daughter's favourite cartoon character, one of Tinkerbell's friends

Zanatdy · 27/12/2022 07:14

It’s the first 2 letters of my 3 kids names

FatOaf · 27/12/2022 07:41

It’s the first 2 letters of my 3 kids names

So how come it's seven letters, not six?
