Wet feet

Am I really unreasonable to expect boots to keep my feet dry? What is everyone wearing on their feet in this wet weather that's keeping you warm and dry?

Anyone?

How old are the boots, when did you last have them resoled, when did you last properly polish them and apply a waterproof coating?

If treated as above your feet should stay dry. If not you'll get wet

The older I get the more time I spend wearing wellies. Basic green Dunlop cheap ones.
if I could get away with them in meetings I’d never wear anything else in this soggy weather.

FictionalCharacter · 10/11/2022 13:28

only waterproof boots are guaranteed to keep your feet dry. Yanbu if you think any old fashion boots will be waterproof!

gogohmm · 10/11/2022 13:28

Gortex boots or wellies. Otherwise keep out of the puddles

RoseValleyRambles · 10/11/2022 13:29

I have just bought Dunlop black ankle wellies and they are amazing. Cool enough to wear out when I want. But yep, your boots probably need cleaning and waterproofing.

If you are talking about leather boots, have you ever waterproofed them or reproofed them recently? Nikwax and Graingers do a range of products for this.

Leather is not naturally waterproof- it's naturally permeable!

I have snow boots for walking in the woods etc, and Nike Air Force One's for everyday. Both keep my feet dry.

Dotjones · 10/11/2022 13:51

Spraying boots with WD40 helps keep them waterproof. Obviously if you've got a hole in them it's not going to do much good.

Not at all just here looking for a recommendation for boots that will keep my feet dry.

Currently don't have any boots to spray!
