To ask how I can become "rich"?

I know this sounds ridiculous.

I would like to be a high earner, I grew up working class and my knowledge in this area is lacking. I have tried to do my own research but found it difficult, with a lot of opposing answers and many sites/people just trying to sell!

I am doing a midwifery degree, I have always been academic and considered law but I knew I would find it boring.

What can I/should I do so that I can become a high earner?

I dream of nice cars, holidays and not having to worry about stretching until the end of the month. I'd also love to be able to send DC to private school.

I am open to anything.

Not going to bother trying to help you anymore. Done with that.

My latter posts were to counteract your false claims and point out the obvious nonsense of your arguments, in the hope that it might save other well-intentioned posters from the waste of time of trying to help you only to be met with vitriol.

Sorry, could you please point out my false claims and the nonsense of my arguments?

You laughed at me and accused me of being a troll. You have then got upset that I have not been open to listening to your subsequent advice.

What's absurd is what a tit you've made yourself look by posting this. Plenty of people would consider themselves rich if they earned £80k, especially if they lived in a cheaper northern area*

And what a "tit" you are for posting that. Because obviously many people who earn that only do because they have to live in a more expensive area to do so. They are taxed on this then out of what is left they soend most on housing/ childcare/ commuting all of which cost far more (while subsidising those in cheaper areas through their higher tax) and have no more left over per month. Often actually less disposable income. So no, it's not rich, if you have even the faintest grasp of economics.

Hopefully this will allow the (sad) unpleasant posters to finally rest.

I had to drop out of A Levels because I got very sick, I then had DC.

I love midwifery, I hate the working conditions. It's awful. 29 out of every 30 midwives that qualify either leave or, don't start at all.

I was fine settling for a low salary because it is what I am passionate about, but now I have experienced what it's like first hand, it's no longer worth it.

I am now looking at other career options, and I love the idea of being able to be more than comfortable and send my DC to private school.

I am sorry that I have offended some of you by trying to find tools that could help me build a better life for myself and DC.

That statistic is right by the way.

It’s true that the NHS gains 1 midwife for every 30 trained. However that isn’t just due to dropping out / not starting. That also includes the loss of existing midwives to retirement or burnout etc. during the time taken to train their ‘replacements’.

But you’re right midwifery is vile. I love my job, hate the system and if I had my time again I wouldn’t have taken this route .

@raincabin what amout do you consider to be rich ?

At this point I can only conclude you are drunk or otherwise incapacitated if you're intelligent (as you say you are) and yet fail to understand what has been stated to you very clearly. Go to bed. Come back tomorrow when you've read it all again with less anger and anything you still don't understand you can ask then.

Don't ask that! Made that mistake and hiurs if vitriol follow.

It was the condescending attitude that made it a mistake. Not the question “what do you consider to be rich?”

Too tired for this.

Back to the SEN kids I go for the latest nightmares and work in the morning, but it's all "old boy's club" apparently. Hilarious and also tragic if this is actually what she believes.

All the best, and I appreciate your concern, but I do like a good debate

You should follow this advice yourself. The OP is right, you laughed at her and accused her of being a troll. You then back pedalled and claimed you were ‘only trying to help’, and declared yourself astounded that - subsequent to your rudeness - your advice was not welcome. You then announced how you ‘weren’t going to bother’ and were ‘done’ about half a dozen times, yet are still here.

The only vitriol on this thread is coming from you. You appear to be rather unhinged.

AliensAteMyHomework · 08/11/2022 02:34

Thank you for making my night. Bless you.

Very welcome.

With your attitude, it's no shock that you've got nowhere near the jobs you apparently desire. I suspect it'll stay that way.

Hawkins001 · 08/11/2022 02:36

@raincabin how much do you consider to be rich ?

Olivetreebutter · 08/11/2022 02:42

Can you go into private midwifery? I have no idea what that pays, but if you can make a business out of it - perhaps a team of private midwives, birth packages, doula to midwife services etc (IE people pay you to find the right people rather than you doing the job yourself) you have the potential to make money.
Alternatively go into the railways. Not as a midwife, obviously. DH is an engineer and the pay is good, but the management pay is much better. Even a driver can earn £60k+

Can you read? I said I was done trying to help the OP with career advice. That does't mean I won't respond to her nonsense comments or try to warn others mot to bother to do so.

I think (hope) once she's slept one this she'll realise she shot herself in the foot when many were trying to help her. She'll probably just vanish in the morning I expect. Whatever. It's boring now.

There are lots of nice people on here trying to support other women but not people with this attitude. It's not a surprise she's not achieved much and based on what she's posted on this thread I expect that is unlikely to change.

Dreamwhisper · 08/11/2022 02:47

AliensAteMyHomework · 08/11/2022 01:37

I'm neither out of touch (having started as a homeless 16 year old and now being a lone parent) or rich. Yes I have a well-paid job now, after decades of study and working twice the hours or more that most people did. Am I rich? No.

HTH.

Was trying to help YOU but I'm done now if I'm going to be attacked for it.

Omg get over yourself you weren't helping you were being absolutely crass and awful. Now you're upset cos your internet shittiness backfired on you and people called you out. Why not just slink away

AliensAteMyHomework · 08/11/2022 02:47

There was a small handful of unpleasant posters, you being one of them. The rest were brilliant and I have thanked them all, multiple times. So that's completely untrue.

You are not one of the nice people on here, clearly. You quite literally laughed at me and accused me of being a troll. You have then insulted me multiple times, including in this most recent post. Oh, the irony.

You have no idea what I have or haven't achieved. I am 22 years old.

Did you forget your meds today?

You have been told you are wrong by multiple people. Why not take this as an opportunity for self reflection, instead of embarrassing yourself further?

OP honestly look at their username, this is a child up too late I wouldn't bother engaging them, they're enjoying people telling them their idiots.

@AliensAteMyHomework

If you had read all of my posts, you wouldn't have made such a fool of yourself by posting this.

£80-100k is rich to me and a lot of people I know.

How out of touch you must be.

80-100k may seem rich to you and I can understand that, but I know some people taking upwards of a million, before taxes.

raincabin · 08/11/2022 02:52

I am aware that million and billionaires exist. Like you said, that is rich to me. I also said it was the minimum I'd be satisfied with. I do realise it isn't objectively rich.

OP posts:
Hawkins001 · 08/11/2022 02:52

Personally I don't know how to become rich, but I guess it's either inheritance, working long hours, e.g. Banking, law, etc. Or lotto win
