Even more than before of course.

Anyone who talks to a colleague like that has no place in a position of power. If that's not bullying, I don't know what is. Threatening as well.

Yes and now no one can afford to use these fireplaces..

Anyone remembering that Alan Partridge episode at the fireplace sales event?

Shinyandnew1 · 07/11/2022 18:14

He’s a total arse. It really annoys me that the Tories come out to defend him saying things like…

it’s in the past
it was in the heat of the moment

Like that makes it ok!

Would those statements be an acceptable defence if you or I were up on any sort of charge of misconduct or worse?!

queenofthewild · 07/11/2022 18:22

An unpleasant rude bully. Completely unprofessional. No workplace I've ever been in would tolerate that kind of behaviour. Yet in government apparently treating others with rudeness and contempt is perfectly acceptable, and worthy of a knighthood.

Also can't get over the spelling and punctuation from a man who was once in charge of education.

toomuchlaundry · 08/11/2022 20:39

He’s resigned!

Glittertwins · 08/11/2022 20:41

He's gone

Frazzled2207 · 08/11/2022 20:43

a twat of the highest order

it’s embarrassing though that he had to resign, he should have been sacked (again). Or obviously preferably not been appointed in the first place

I hope he loses his seat he’s a total disgrace

Frazzled2207 · 08/11/2022 20:45

Does anyone know if there is a process for getting rid of someone’s peerage?

they did it with Jimmy saville didn’t they? Posthumously

SquirrelSoShiny · 08/11/2022 20:46

He's an astonishing prick. Glad his odious face and voice are gone.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 08/11/2022 21:03

I refute the characterisation of these claims

LOL

Peerages die with the holder. You can't remove what doesn't exist.

Probably better to stop giving them out to start with.

Mapletreelane · 08/11/2022 21:17

I recall hearing the news he'd been Kinghted, and thinking what?!

But, allegedly , the reason that Boris recommended him for a Knighthood was to reward him for his silence. Apparently, when BJ was Foreign secretary and still married, Williamson walked on on Carrie, ahem, how can I put it, servicing BJ with a BJ.

If you want more detail Google twitter Private eye and Boris and Carrie, there's more on the story (it did get published in Times and Mail online but got pulled). And it was Williamson allegedly the MP who walked on them.

Realise this post may get deleted but if it's good enough for Private Eye....

Mynameiselvispresley · 08/11/2022 21:18

More allegations are coming out:
He told a civil servant at MOD to slit their throat and to kill themselves because he didn’t like their advice;
He gave instructions to demean a colleague in financial difficulty.

He is very clearly a nasty piece and it was common knowledge in the party. The Johnson resignation honours are an disgrace and it undermines democracy. You can only have an unelected chamber if PMs behave honourably and only make appointments based on achievement and value they bring to the country.

Liz Truss wrecked the economy

Johnson tried to break our constitution

If Rishi Sunak doesn’t get rid of the rotting apples (Suella Braverman is the other one); then he’ll have spoiled the whole Tory barrel. Hopefully for several generations.

ilovesooty · 08/11/2022 21:20

It reflects very badly on Sunak that he appointed him in the first place and was still supporting him earlier today

Lampzade · 08/11/2022 21:26

Nasty ass of a man. Incompetent, dumb, useless, sexist, lazy, aggressive…
Always disliked him

he’s not a peer. Peers are Lords.

gavin is a Sir.

Looked it up and knighthoods are occasionally revoked

eg
(ex Sir) Fred Goodwin was knighted in 2004 for his services to banking, but in a highly unusual move the honour was annulled by the Queen on 1 February 2012. The Cabinet Office explained "The scale and severity of the impact of his actions as CEO of RBS made this an exceptional case."

Paslaptis · 08/11/2022 22:05

Wendy Morton comes across pretty well in her handling of this nonsense; apparently it went on for weeks. I particularly liked:

WM: There is absolutely no need for you to take this tone, Gavin. I am trying to help.
GW: How are you?
WM: I am fine.

"Don't puss me about" from Williamson is appalling. Very unparliamentary language all throughout! 😲

I love the 'how are you' / 'I am fine' exchange, followed by Williamson's 'no how are you trying to help?'

It's pure Yes Minister - if it wasn't so serious.

MichaelGovesLeftNostril · 08/11/2022 22:10

Absolute arsehole. He'll be back. He sticks around like a bad fart to cheap paint.

StoneofDestiny · 08/11/2022 22:16

Sunak knew there were complaints about Williamson before he appointed him and didn't ask what the complaints were about?
Aye right.............

lljkk · 08/11/2022 22:19

tbh, the more I hear about him the less seriously I take him.
His authority as a whip is being seriously undermined.

AutumnCrow · 08/11/2022 22:19

I do wonder if Sunak appointed Gavin Williamson and Suella Braverman knowing - well, praying - that they'd have to resign fairly quickly, and that would finally be the end of them; while he kept his side of some ghastly deal in appointing them to Cabinet.

Hw would hugely benefit from them both being not just politically dead but dead dead.

Meltinthemiddle · 09/11/2022 10:09

Wow just wow, what a nasty piece of work 😕

PrincessofWellies · 09/11/2022 10:14

Same shit different PM .
. .

Oioicaptain · 09/11/2022 21:09

I had to listen to Gillian Keegan defending him on Radio 4 this morning! Funny how they draft in a woman to defend a misogynistic bully's behaviour against another woman, as though all us women will be gaslit into thinking that what he's done isn't actually that bad!
