Just checking for clarification.

If a poster starts a thread, forgets certain details they have posted on a previous thread, they can now ask MNHQ to remove the current thread as too identifying? Despite the current thread not being identifying in the least.

Posters spend time and energy replying to threads on here. At the very least they should be given the courtesy of not being taken for fools.

Remove a thread for troll hunting or sock puppetry by all means. I think it is unfair to remove a fairly non identifying thread on the request of the OP just because that OP has been questioned on the detail.

its not identifying to you but could be to someone else ?
It's just the way the site works
No-one would post if they couldn't withdraw it when it got too much

YANBU

its weird what MNHQ allow to be removed and not. Some get removed just because the OP doesn’t like the replies they’re getting, yet they refuse to take others down.

I had a post that they refused to take down despite someone, somehow identifying me on Twitter from my post and sharing my profile on the thread. I asked for it to be taken down and it was refused.

I closed my other account after that and now NC daily to be sure

I have been here for years. It used to be almost impossible to get a thread removed. Certainly not on the whim of an OP who has been caught out on the detail.

I agree Belindabelle. They didn't used to remove threads so easily, but many ask for them to be taken down when they don't get the response they wanted - and MN do it

Belindabelle · 04/11/2022 19:20

I think it is fine to change some details. I do it with the ages and gender of my children on certain threads. You shouldn’t be able to get a thread deleted because you have been questioned on some inconsistencies and asked for clarification on certain details.

If you want to play at being Walter Mitty start a blog or go on Instagram and leave AIBU for people who have real problems and appreciate the time and help that posters give.

I expect this will be deleted now for being a TAAT.

I don't see a problem in removing a thread at the OP's request, even if it's simply because they don't like the responses. I'm not here for a pile on.
