Does anyone else's body do this , very frustrating

I calorie count every day, but every now and again I have a day where I eat whatever I like. On Tuesday I probably ate about 800 kcal more than my recommended daily allowance. Even now 3 days later my stomach is bloated, my entire body and face is puffier than it was on Monday, even though I've been back to my fixed calories for the last 3 days since.
This happens to me a lot, I don't understand it. Could it be an intolerance? I have to restrict myself every day because of this and I don't understand why it happens

Do you eat things with a lot of salt? Salt is notorious for puffiness and bloating.

May also be slight gluten intolerance.

Freehotchocolate · 04/11/2022 17:28

I possibly do, but I don't understand how it can last for several days,

It sounds like too much salt. I am the same if I eat salty food, even my fingers puff up

PupInAPram · 04/11/2022 17:30

This is going to sound ridiculous but could one of the builders have put something in your food or drink? I know, I know, I read far too many crime novels.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 04/11/2022 17:32

What builders? Sorry OP - no advice, just curious about pp post

MilkshakesBringAllTheCoosToTheYard · 04/11/2022 17:40

I think that's an intolerance rather than the effect of a few calories.

bpirockin · 04/11/2022 17:43

Sounds like 'carb face' to me.

WeDoNotTalktoPennilynLott · 04/11/2022 17:45

Also curious about the builders.

OP, could be too much cards, salt or gluten

PayPennies · 04/11/2022 17:45

Bloating in women should be checked out if other symptoms too OP. Are you needing to see more frequently?

Also what’s with the builders comments from PP?!?!

WeDoNotTalktoPennilynLott · 04/11/2022 17:46

Carbs obviously

WonderingWanda · 04/11/2022 18:32

Gluten intolerance can do this.

TheOtherWoman2 · 04/11/2022 18:33

are you a secret eater? do you have the odd extra bite of things are not remember?

Whataretheodds · 04/11/2022 22:19

Keep a food diary and see if you can see a pattern in the foods that make you react like this.

Are you eating the 800 calories in one sitting? If you're binging on something carby/yeasty/high sugar then it's not a surprising reaction. Have a look at FODMAP

CourtneeLuv · 04/11/2022 23:18

Placemarking to see what the builder comment was all about.

Jurassicparkinajug · 05/11/2022 07:08

Like others have said the likely culprit is salt. If you ingest a lot of salt, your body will retain a lot of water, hence the bloating.

But keep a food diary like someone suggested to see if something else is causing it. If you get any other gastric problems, diarrhoea etc or if you are excessively tired it might be worth seeing your gp.

PBSam · 05/11/2022 07:11

I think it's the builders personally

determinedtomakethiswork · 05/11/2022 07:18

Do you drink more alcohol on those days? That really does make your face look more puffy.

Freehotchocolate · 05/11/2022 14:44

No builders sorry never had any in my home!
I don't drink any alcohol at all and luckily no diarrhea etc.. it's probably just too much salt sadly.
Although I did a very low carb/low sugar diet in the summer and the bloating vanished overnight..
