AIBU to be spitting feathers over maternity pay in this situation?
I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant. I've been working for my current employer for over 4 years.
They were planning to transfer our work to another company (under TUPE, which would have protected our length of service etc), however the other company pulled out of the TUPE agreement as there's no longer the work available. The original company are hanging on while they wait to go into administration, so redundancy is not possible yet (I checked with HR).
This means my employment will come to an end on the 6th of this month. I have, incredibly luckily, found a job that will allow me to start the next day. The 7th.
I will not only lose my enhanced maternity pay from my original company (expected), but now - despite being continually employed throughout my entire pregnancy, with a gap of not even one day, I won't be eligible for statutory maternity pay.
The difference for me between statutory and maternity allowance (for which I will be eligible) will be £1.5K. This equates to a full month's salary for me outside of maternity leave.
AIBU to question how it can be fair that I will miss out on this due to absolutely no fault of my own, and doing my damnedest not to be out of employment for so much as a fucking day?!
