MiSight contact lenses

DS is short sighted and wears glasses. During his latest visit to the optician, he was given a new prescription for glasses.

The optician also suggested ds starts using a new type of contact lens called MiSight. Apparently these new contact lenses are clinically proven to slow down shortsightedness in children. However, the way they work is that they prevent the growth of part of the eye and this just spooks me a bit. I admit I am completely clueless would you go for this or not?

YABU - It's safe and I would let me dc use these
YANBU - it's a very new technology and I'd wait for more research before letting dc use these.

We have an appointment to try these tomorrow so any views would be helpful!
