I’m not sure if this is the best thread but posting for traffic.

I have had recurring thrush for last 6+ months, had creams, pessaries, swabs, blood tests, antibiotics, the only time I don’t have it is when I’m on my period.

does anyone have any miracles of getting rid for good??

Do you have a partner and are they also being treated so you aren’t just getting it continuously passed back to you?

Have you tried googling thrush diet and seeing if there are any changes you can make?

Do you avoid shower gels and scented products inc nasty scented pads?

Iron the gusset of your knickers. Random, but really sorted my thrush out.

wibblewobbleboard · 02/11/2022 10:39

Cotton underwear. Get your partner treated too. Ironing gusset as a pp says and a long term course of the pessaries. You take one a day for so many days then one a week for 6 months. Limit sugar intake.

Sympathies. It's awful.

Treat partner too

Long term strong dose of fluconazole. At least 6 months

Look into dietary causes

I've only had thrush when I've been pregnant, back in the days when it meant a trip to the doctors who then always said "sorry can't give you anything while you're pregnant"

What worked for me was natural/live yoghurt. a weekly / every few days smothering, inside and out kept it at bay, very messy but soothing and satisfying. As soon as I gave birth I didn't get it again but I'm not recommending having a baby.

For what it costs I'd say its worth a try, fingers crossed

Sunflowerseedsx · 02/11/2022 10:58

Partner has been treated although he had no symptoms, it can appear when we haven’t had sex for a few weeks so I don’t think we’re passing it back and fourth.

I have a prescription for the fluconazole so I’ll take that and see if it helps

will look into diet too as I’m a stickler for sweet things

thanks everyone

I had this and it was miserable so I really feel for you. I ended up being prescribed a long course of higher strength pessaries which did clear it up.
Have you been tested for diabetes?

Sunflowerseedsx · 02/11/2022 11:31

Yeah had a blood test for all that and come back fine
