To ask... WTF could this be?!

I was sat last night watching TV. So far, so normal.

I got up and as soon as my left leg hit the floor I have shooting stabbing pain just above the knee. I immediately thought I'd been stung, whipped off my trousers, shook them about but nothing was found. The pain continued every time my foot hit the floor but it didn't hurt when I touched the area. There is very very small red mark.

This morning it has persisted. No pain when I'm not weight bearing. No pain to touch. Only when I put my foot down. It feels like after an injection heavy sore muscle in addition to the stabbing pain.

WTF?

I'm wondering if it could be possible nerve ending damage? If I, for example, scratch or hurt myself in one place, I get s sharp pain in another place. I think because the nervous system is all connected. Maybe that's what's happened to you?

Call your GP.

That's exactly the same pain I got with shingles. I didn't get it when I stood up but if I touched my skin.

Isn't that the opposite of what the OP is getting - it hurts when she stands on it but not when she touches it?

GP! Could it be a blood clot?

SporkAndMonday · 02/11/2022 09:46

Give the GP a call

Thanks all. I work in a hospital so I got a consultant to have a look. They think I've been stung or bitten. By what, who knows!
