Buying a horse!

Chestnut6 · 02/11/2022 01:07

Apologies, I just wanted to post here because I can’t sleep because I’m so happy. I posted on MN before and mentioned the difficulties I was having buying my new horse and how tough I was finding the process mentally.

I have good news- we have bought the most amazing horse and she’s coming this week. I’m absolutely ecstatic and have barely slept over the last couple of nights because I’m so excited to bring her home.

like I said, apologies for posting in such a random place, but since I posted before I thought it would be nice for a little update! Also, there’s nobody else to tell at 1am about how ecstatic I am! ❤️

Ah, that’s so lovely OP. Is your user name Chestnut because of your horse?

My DD rides and we love horses, and would love a horse, but we’re in no position to buy one. I can imagine in 15 years time, my DD making this a priority for herself and being just as excited.

Im pleased for you, good luck with your beautiful filly.

Huntswomanonthemove · 02/11/2022 01:23

Really happy for you. 🐴🐴🐴❤️

Flovegas · 02/11/2022 01:40

Really happy for you! My DD had a pony for 8 years we lost her this year and didn’t replace her as it wasn’t the time and now DD is busy with school etc but they are wonderful animals!

she is a lucky horse to have such an excited mum! Especially going in to winter 😉

Chestnut6 · 02/11/2022 01:45

Thank you very much everyone! ❤️

she’s not my first horse/pony but I knew as soon as I saw her that she was the one. She was exactly what I’ve been looking for and we have been up and down the country viewing horses so it’s been a tiring process

It’s the most exciting feeling in the world; I can’t wait to open the box and bring her out to her new home! I definitely won’t be able to concentrate or work properly on anything this week out of sheer excitement! It’s all the little things that build up to the excitement as well; I’m off to buy more shavings to get her bed ready, new haynet, new bucket, all the expensive (🤣) but exciting things!

Sounds absolutely wonderful @Chestnut6. I would love to be in a position to own my own horse but sadly it is not possible. Please give you girl a big pat from me. I hope she settles in quickly xxx

WhenTheMusicFinallyStops · 02/11/2022 01:48

*your girl

BaldricksWife · 02/11/2022 02:01

It's the best feeling in the world, enjoy every moment!

CanadianJohn · 02/11/2022 02:20

Good luck with your horse, I hope it works out well. The people in www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_tack_room would love to hear about your horse

Chestnut6 · 02/11/2022 11:07

Thank you so much! I’m so excited I can’t even think about anything else! I’ve been searching for so long and the market is rubbish right now, and I can’t believe it’s actually happening now!

You're so lucky, what's her name ?

EmmaC78 · 02/11/2022 11:10

Congratulations, I agree about posting it in the tackroom section of MN, a few of us horsey folk hang about on there.

WhatAboutGiraffes · 02/11/2022 11:16

Amazing! I remember the other thread I think, so very pleased it's ended with you finding your horse. Would you share a horsey pic for us to adore or is that too outing?

Chestnut6 · 02/11/2022 23:58

stable name is Elle (Ellie!)- I’ll absolutely post a photo of her when she’s here!

(another night of not being able to sleep out of sheer excitement! I couldn’t even focus at work or on anything else, I just can’t switch off my brain I’m so excited!)

I was about to post to say DON’T do it!

I see I’m too late!

I have three (have owned horses for 30 years). Once they’re there, they’re there forever. Much more than a hobby - way of life that you cannot escape from. Good luck! And congratulations!

Maverickess · 03/11/2022 00:28

Congratulations OP 🐎🐴 your mare sounds wonderful and I hope you have a long and happy future together!
I remember feeling like this just before my loan horse came - 20 years ago and I still have him now (through the kindness of the owners) and although tonight was like an episode of total wipeout trying to get nets to him and his field mate and stopping the electric fence escaping in the wind and rain, I wouldn't have it any other way!

SirenSays · 03/11/2022 00:32

Aww don't apologise, its always nice to see happy stories here! Congrats OP 🐴

BingBangBollocks · 03/11/2022 08:29

Oh yes please @Chestnut6 I'd love to see a photo of your beautiful girl

mamabear715 · 03/11/2022 08:31

Yay! Wonderful news, your excitement is infectious, am sat here smiling like a loon! ;-)

Brigante9 · 03/11/2022 09:49

Can't wait to see pics! Is it a chestnut mare? You're either brave or mad!

PaperDoves · 03/11/2022 11:51

Following hopefully for pics!

Chestnut6 · 12/11/2022 22:14

Just a quick update! I’m absolutely over the moon- she is here, settled in, and is thriving already in her new routine. I’ve been on cloud 9 for the past week and I keep pinching myself in case it’s all just a dream. I’ll post a picture below!

I'm not a horse person but it's nice to see that someone is so happy. Makes a refreshing change!
