To think that Hancock's had a brakedown & is making silly decisions

To think, although self inflicted, partially, but maybe from the covid crisis stress he's just lost the plot completely by going on I'm a celeb? He's in no right mind is he!

Maybe they could also invite Truss?

Great idea!!

I didn't realise he was one of the scientists who developed them, he kept that quiet.

Aside from the scientists I credit Dame Kate Bingham. She’s the one who using her insight, spread bet our chances of a viable vaccine, and multiple horses came through.

TaraRhu · 02/11/2022 07:05

Agree. He has a divorce to pay for and I imagine his new girlfriend will won't be impressed with an mp's salary.

SettingPrecedents · 02/11/2022 07:06

He’s doing it to build his own brand, the same as everyone else who goes on that show. Whether his endgame is popularity, flogging a new book or building a new career as a TV presenter. Who was talking about him two days ago? No one, now he’s back in the news where he wants to be.

it’s calculated, definitely not a breakdown.

It’s like a joke question:

How many celeb programmes does an ex-PM have to go on before they recoup the £50b they lost in 44 days (or whatever it was).

NotAKnowitall · 01/11/2022 20:05

Did Nadine Dorries also have a breakdown or what? Why was she allowed but he isn't? Not that I like the man but it's clear as day he's being treated completely differently compared to a colleague who did the same thing.

I would expect it from Nadine though, I always thought she was bonkers.

Whereisthehugeteddybear · 02/11/2022 07:09

His people said he wants to raise awareness for causes close to him and promote his idea about screening for dyslexia.
I think he probably wants to raise awareness about himself, and promote his book that's about to be published (The Pandemic Diaries) and start a d-list celeb career

TheMarzipanDildo · 02/11/2022 07:10

I suppose Strictly wouldn’t have him.

balalake · 02/11/2022 07:12

Silly decisions yes, but I think to call it a mental breakdown demeans those who have mental ill health.

He should not have been allowed to leave the UK, as he should be facing criminal charges and be on bail pending trial for them.

fruitpastille · 02/11/2022 07:13

He doesn't need the money. It's ridiculous that someone can leave an important job to go to Australia for several weeks for such a frivolous reason. It's not like an he's an actor who can be written out of a storyline for a few weeks!

He will be hoping to win over the public by being a good sport about doing all the trials and being super nice to his camp mates. And then he can go on to do similar shows and become a full time tv celeb. I really hope nobody falls for it. The best thing would be for nobody to vote for him to do any trials so he fades into the background and is the first to leave.

Justgetitoverwith · 01/11/2022 21:53

He must've had a breakdown. We all thought the world was ending and he was responsible for the cornerstone of how we dealt with it in our country.... the stress alone must have done some damage surely....

You are describing him as if he feels the emotions surrounding issues like this. He doesn't. None of them do. Their jobs are formulaic and they then go and eat fabulous food and drink fabulous drink in one of their many fabulous homes and don't give any of it, or us, a second thought. None of them have a clue and his decision to do this when he should be in his constituency doing the job he has been elected to do, is a finger up.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 02/11/2022 07:14

Most people who go on Im a Celebrity are either on their way up, or their way down. Matt Hancock is definitely on his way down. His life has no purpose any more. I feel, a little, sorry for him.

OperationRinka · 02/11/2022 07:17

He's publishing his "pandemic diaries" any moment now. Presumably he's banking on the publicity helping sales. NB, according to Wikipedia his royalties are going to NHS charities.

In his twitter he says that his reasons for going on IACGMOOH are....revealed in an exclusive interview with the Sun..

Hopperhead · 02/11/2022 07:18

Well, it's pretty clear that he doesn't care about his political career. Perhaps he's doing it to leave politics with two fingers up at the government? Did you see how Rishi blanked him when Tories were congratulating him for being made leader last week?

Or maybe he just has a book to promote (he does) and needs money to pay off his ex-wife?

The difference between him doing it and Nadine Dorries was that she hadn't, at the time, had a hand in 200,000 deaths. It's not a good look.

But I still don't think any MP should be allowed to do it really, in parliamentary time or otherwise. It's demeaning for one thing, and what if there was an emergency in their constituency? The House of Commons needs to clamp down on holidays / working holidays; when MPs are being paid to do a job, they should be present and getting on with it.

Bramblejoos · 02/11/2022 07:25

Well where's the love of his life???? Are they still an item. Weird there are no pics of them leaving the house together in the morning etc etc

He'll be doing it for the money and how worth it has it been for I'm a Celeb?????

Hours and hours of free publicitiy like this for the prog.

cosmiccosmos · 02/11/2022 07:30

It's got mud life crisis written all over it. I bet his wife is so glad she's rid of him, what an idiot.

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 02/11/2022 07:33

In his twitter he says that his reasons for going on IACGMOOH are....revealed in an exclusive interview with the Sun.

He's sent an email explaining his reasons to anyone who has ever emailed him - shame he didn't reply to those people's when they were asking about funding, schools, hospitals transport, etc

glamourousindierockandroll · 02/11/2022 07:35

I don't know that he is so stupid.

Trump and Johnson both built their brand on being celebrities and still retain a huge following despite a series of scandals in office. I can completely see why MH might want to build a profile as a celebrity to then launch back into politics.

carefulcalculator · 02/11/2022 07:42

Justgetitoverwith · 01/11/2022 20:06

He's the reason we all have better immunity thanks to the jabs though.... this really important fact has just been forgotten about.

WTF? He really isn't. Any Health Minister would have bought the vaccines. The reason we have the vaccines is the scientists who created them.

Exactly this. His political career is coming to the end and he's attempting to move into entertainment.

I know what you mean and agree. But his life does have a purpose, until the next general election at least. It’s representing the interests of his constituents.

Ponoka7 · 02/11/2022 07:46

Bestcatmum · 01/11/2022 20:14

I can't stand him after the way he publicly humiliated his wife and dumped his three kids for another woman. I won't be watching.
The man has zero dignity.

It was him telling a doctor who worked during the thick of Covid to watch her tone that did it for me. Although I despise the Tory's in general. I think he demonstrated his real contempt for those who don't have their background. People died because they didn't have the correct PPE, but for him, like most of them, it was getting their friend's a contract that was more important. Even Chris Whitty said how shockingly Ill prepared the NHS was, because of decisions made and supported by him.

RedRiverShore2 · 02/11/2022 07:48

And another thread, he obviously is a celebrity

Bit of an over exaggeration. Boris ignored what was happening and had the support of his party. Thanks to the ongoing work in HIV, the other flus and immunity research, they knew that they'd be ok. I don't believe that they care about the deaths, just like they don't care about poverty. They can try to deny it, but herd immunity was the plan. He finally did his job and secured the vaccine.

Runningwithoutstopping · 02/11/2022 07:59

''I can't wait to see Boris doing a samba and Jacob Reese-Mogg attempting a rumba on strictly.'

I would pay money to see Craig telling Reece Mogg that he needs to move his hips more, hips that probably haven't moved since the 1800's or whenever he was born
