Try Waitrose, they used to sell the different tiers to make your own, decorate with fresh flowers or whatever.

There’s a whole section!

A wedding cake is just a cake.
For a larger cake for any occasion you generally have to order it, you’re not going to find a 50 person cake just on the shelves.

Cinders88 · 01/11/2022 08:05

I can’t say I’ve seen any .. however we had an arrangement of 60 cupcakes for our wedding which was an affordable alternative to a wedding cake 🙂

Marks and Spencer do wedding cakes (cheese ones too I think).

If you want traditional fruit cake, there will be lots around for Xmas. Many are sold to decorate yourself. Throughout the rest of the year, plain iced sponges are always available.

waitrose / M&S used to - waitrose still has the cake section on their website, but they’re not in stock due to availability (guessing supply issues etc)

sorry op, I got mine from waitrose so I know what a complete bargain it was!

maybe try getting some plain iced sponge cakes from sainsburys etc and tier-ing them up yourself? Pain in the ass I know though. Hope they come back in stock in time for you

I haven’t seen them in a while on the M&S website.
Asda have a nut free fruit cake but only one size from what I gather groceries.asda.com/product/birthday-party-cakes/the-bakery-at-asda-celebration-fruit-cake/1000026958394

Just googled 'supermarket wedding cake' and this article from July may be useful

If you can't get different sizes, I'd get one of those stands that holds cakes at different levels, but they can be the same size.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/11/2022 08:15

If you manage to give plain white iced cake layers, they look lovely displayed on a stand and decorated with berries and flowers.

M&S used to do a wedding Colin!

M and S don’t do their wedding Colin any more but you can order an extra large Colin or Connie that feed 45 and get your own message put on it ie your names and wedding dates. They have other personalised cakes too that you can add your own wedding toppers too.
