To ask for your woo stories?

Seeing as it's halloween I thought I'd ask for people's stories.

I'll share some of mine.

In the house I grew up in that my DP's still live in, we had the typical things go missing and turn up months later, footsteps, our names being called when nobody is there, the feeling of someone stood behind you. My DB was petrified once because he was home alone and heard footsteps walking around in the room above the living room he was sat in. He knew we were all out and he was the only one home and even checked and shouted out to whoever it was.

I've seen my DGM when I was little sat on the end of my bed smiling at me since she passed away.

In my uni house share, we used to all experience some strange happenings also.

I'd love to hear some of your stories, there always ends up being some memorable woo ones like the Savernake forest one 👻

Last night.
A sound of a shoe being kicked in my hallway woke me up.
Starting point of the pair of shoes was being wedged upside down on my radiator as they got wet in the rain.
Just one was about a foot away from that radiator.
Weird, totally weird!

I kinda just shrugged and kicked it to the side. Possibly expanded as it dried and popped off the radiator.

I used to regularly stay in a haunted mansion when I was a child which had poltergeist activity in it. Whatever 'it' was used to throw books off the bookshelves and once threw a book that hit me directly in the face.

emevol · 31/10/2022 22:25

Haha - maybe not paranormal but scared me half to death!

Was in Asda today, grabbed some bits for this evenings dinner. Was walking down the homeware section, completely empty aisle; and a 'tray' of photo frames practically flew off the shelf and landed right in front of my trolley. Made a HUGE racket and 4 out of the 6 had smashed.

Happened just 30 mins after finishing a phone call with my dear grandma, who was reminiscing on some spooky happenings herself..!

When I was a child I remember waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of footsteps shuffling across my bedroom floor. My sister was prone to sleepwalking at the time so I shouted at her to go away back to her own room. The shuffling footsteps got closer and closer until they were right beside me and then I heard 3 loud knocks right above my head on the wall. I jumped up ready to give off and there was noone there. Walked into my sisters room and she was fast asleep as were my parents. Would have often heard random voices calling my name when the house was really quiet and once when I was in secondary school I remember waking up randomly one night, like wide awake and couldn't get back over. So I decided to go down to the living room to wait on everyone else waking up because it seemed like it was near morning. As i was watching TV out of the corner of my eye I saw a grey shadow pass across the living room door towards the kitchen. I went out after it and there was nothing in the kitchen but the security light at the back of the house came on. As I watched the door handle on the kitchen door started to move up and down like someone was there trying to get in. At that point my dad came in behind me and told me to go back to bed. He checked outside and again nothing was there. Still gives me the heebie jeebies when i need to be in my parents house alone.

When I was a teenager I was walking in broad daylight along a canal path talking to a friend. The path was only wide enough for 2 people side by side. We could see a quarter mile in front of us and there was nowhere to join the path on front of us.

I was wearing a ring that was slightly too big and playing with it as we chatted. It fell off my finger and onto the ground in between my friend and I. Immediately before this there was no one but is in the canal path.

As my ring fell my friend and I looked behind us as I picked it up. As we both turned around there was a man standing in hrs away from me. It made us both jump.just a second before we could see no one else was on the path. We were both startled and I said sorry as I was in his way, so I stood behind my friend so he could pass. He didn't speak he just glared at is.

A second later my friend and I both said to each other "where the hell did he come from and we immediately turned round to look at him.

There was no one there??? We could see the path for quarter of a mile!!!!!

I worked in a pub many years ago when I was a student. When I'd be standing polishing the cutlery, I'd feel someone softly blowing on the back of my neck and inaudible whispers past my ear. I hated part of the cellar, just felt bad, hard to explain. Glasses used to "fly" off the shelf too.

I used to live in York, and one building used to be the police station
they dug the cells out and found a skeleton with a knife in the ribs
i was in the coffee shop next door one day and jokingly asked if the skeleton had caused any hauntings
’yes, both buildings are haunted-we think finding it has stirred up some energy’ came the reply
just as the lady said it,a bunch of keys shot across the counter-hitting me
they just flew down the counter-there was only the lady,me and my baby dd in the place

i was once having a drink in the Golden Fleece
we’d walked down the corridor to the restaurant part, but as we only wanted a drink,we turned back round to the bar
something grabbed the back of my top and flung me with some force back towards the bar-nobody there

same night,my ex had his wallet pinched-it’s known to have a ghost pick pocket-it was found behind the bar later that night

My brother is a firefighter. He went to a recovery shout when a couple fell into a river. The search had been ongoing for a couple of days. He & his partner were walking the riverbank when he saw a couple on a bridge over the river waving to him. He acknowledged them & they shouted to him.'shes over there' he ran towards them & shouted to his partner.

He got onto the bridge & as he approached them they said 'Shes there, she's over there' pointing downstream. He ran over the bridge & sure enough there was the woman's body.

His partner met up with him.& asked how the hell he'd found her. My brother said it was the couple on the bridge who saw her. His partner asked what couple and said there was noone on the bridge when he ran across

They thought it was strange but didn't give it much thought until the woman's body was pulled from the river & my brother thought she looked familiar. He told Police officers what had happened & they showed him a photo of the couple. They were the couple on the bridge

@Kedece2410 oh wow that's chilling, that's given me goosepimples 😧one of the eeriest stories I've read on here. I bet your brother was freaked out for a while afterwards, I know I would be. Do you know what happened to the man of the couple? Was he found shortly after?

We lost one of our labs almost three years ago on 19th December. On Christmas Eve that year I felt him jump onto me on the sofa. We also hear his footsteps and I'm sure his brother can see him at times

I was once alone in a very small office room with one door and no windows. I was unlocking the door and had my back to the room. I heard a sliding noise that lasted no more than a second, then felt something hit me in the small of my back. It was a small plate that I had placed on a side table about two feet away. It had slid along a flat surface and then traveled with enough force to clear a space of air and hit me in the back. It literally bounced off me and broke on the floor.

If anyone can explain that, I'd genuinely love to hear it!

sashh · 03/11/2022 05:11

I've recommended this before but it is so worth a watch, on You Tube there is a programme called, "ghosts on the underground".

@Kedece2410

I was at uni with a fire fighter (training for a post brigade career) who had a, er not sure how to explain it, 'spirit guide' I suppose who would tell him when to get out of buildings.

Halloweenwoo · 03/11/2022 10:32

Talking of firefighter stories I remember one posted on mumsnet that was sort of similar to @Kedece2410's as a guardian angel sort of story. I may have gotten a few details wrong as I can't find the original story but something along the lines of a user posted that their family member got a call to a house fire and the mum was outside waving and shouting to them in her dressing gown that her kids were trapped upstairs in the house. The firefighters managed to get the children out but they couldn't save the mum who sadly died.. the same person who was stood outside waving and shouting at the firefighters.
