HPV in monogamous relationship?

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post, but wasn’t sure where would be best and wanted opinions. DH and I have been together for almost 20 years and to the best of my knowledge both faithful. However a recent smear test shows I have HPV. It’s not something I really know much about, does this mean there’s been cheating or could it have been dormant for this time?

It can lie dormant for years, so it definitely doesn’t mean one of you has been unfaithful.

There’s some info here if you want to read up about it:

HPV can lay dormant for years before it shows. It doesn’t automatically mean your husband has been cheating.

Hi

I've had the same! 20 year monogamous relationship and HPV letter came last month! Neither of us has been unfaithful. I think all smears are now being screened for it.
