Thick, blue tub, Nivea cream

Is it really as miraculous as some claim?
Does anyone use it?
The cheap, cheerful, massive blue Nivea tin moisturiser.
I remember my mum always using Ponds cream too and she has amazing skin at nearly 70 (she now uses Nivea-not the blue tin one)

I know some people swear by it but it didn't agree with me, it gave me terrible dry patches which I needed use a cortisone cream to get rid of.

Millsbills · 29/10/2022 19:10

I don’t like using it, find it greasy and doesn’t sink in well

edwinbear · 29/10/2022 19:10

I use it, works really well for me. And the price is definitely a bonus!

MintChocCornetto · 29/10/2022 19:11

I like it. It's not a miracle cream but I do use it once a week or thereabouts. I have a small blue jar, it's lasted me a year so far.

absoluteshower · 29/10/2022 19:12

Not keen on the blue tub but the Q10 is next level magic.

karalimed · 29/10/2022 19:12

If you have good genetics for your skin, then you can put anything on your face and you will look amazing.

If I used it I would be a greasy spotty mess.

PAFMO · 29/10/2022 19:13

Yes.
Though I prefer Astral (ginormous lighter blue tub) as it sinks in better.
They're both oil rather than water based so make sure skin is dry before putting them on or they separate.

Sparklingbrook · 29/10/2022 19:13

I do t think it absorbs at all. Sort of sits there so I use it sometimes as a night cream.

Astral is another similar one.

BlueBar · 29/10/2022 19:15

It is by far the best treatment I know for sunburn and it's quite good for feet, but too difficult to rub in for general use for me.

I quite like it as a night cream, but you need to be sleeping alone!

Sooverhalloween · 29/10/2022 19:15

Is the blue tin one definitely for the face? Im
sure I saw it’s for the body, but have used it on my face, it is v greasy but I’m hoping it stops lines and just gives loads of moisture to my dry face!

It's greasy. I tend to just use on my legs.

Anon84 · 29/10/2022 19:18

I tried it and found it AWFUL. Very thick, took absolutely ages to rub in & left my skin really greasy & sticky

Poetnojo · 29/10/2022 19:18

When I was a kid I fell face first into wall and had a fairly large mark on my face afterwards, I don't know if it would have been permanent or not but my Mam got the blue nivea and after daily use the mark disappeared completely. My Dd burned her forearm in work about a year ago so I bought her the cream to use, the burn mark is still visible but not as bad as we would have expected it to be at this stage.

JessieOh · 29/10/2022 19:18

I prefer the niven soft cream, find it sinks in much better and it smells divine.

Millsbills · 29/10/2022 19:20

My miracle cream is sudocream

Works great at preventing spots

BobbinThreadbare123 · 29/10/2022 19:20

It's very thick and it needs warming a bit to rub in. I have very dry skin and I use it like an eye cream, or put it around my nose in winter, on my hands at night. Works well but I also enjoy Sudocrem so you can imagine how non-oily I am 😆

SherbetDips · 29/10/2022 19:25

No it’s too thick and greasy, I like Olay skin whip! And olay overnight mask.

ouch321 · 29/10/2022 19:37

It's not a miracle cream. No such thing. It's thick , gloopy and cheap. I only use it overnight as takes hours - luterally- to sink in.

ABJ100 · 29/10/2022 19:38

My mum uses Ponds too and has the most amazing skin.

maddiemookins16mum · 29/10/2022 19:39

My mum used Nivea cream every morning after washing her face with palmolive soap.
Until the day she died (at nearly 81), she had lovely skin and a forehead with barely a crease.

Spicybananas · 29/10/2022 19:39

I use Nivea - not the blue one to be fair but the standard day cream with SPF 15 and the night cream and it is amazing for my skin.

LondonQueen · 29/10/2022 19:40

Too greasy for my face personally, but it's great after shaving your legs!

A580Hojas · 29/10/2022 19:40

I prefer Astral. Use it on my neck, chest, finger nails and elbows. It's too much and too perfumed for my face.

SheWentWest · 29/10/2022 19:42

No way would I use it every day but I find if I have a really dry face or body then a couple of days of this sorts it out

CornedBeef451 · 29/10/2022 19:42

I can't use Nivea at all, irritates my skin and gives me spots.

I like oilatum and a layer of Vaseline at night.
