Thick, blue tub, Nivea cream

Is it really as miraculous as some claim?
Does anyone use it?
The cheap, cheerful, massive blue Nivea tin moisturiser.
I remember my mum always using Ponds cream too and she has amazing skin at nearly 70 (she now uses Nivea-not the blue tin one)

I use it every night and love it. I first wash my face, put on a night serum and once that’s absorbed I use Nivea blue tin on my face, hands and neck (don’t forget the neck!), and I always wake up with nice, hydrated, soft skin.

grayhairdontcare · 29/10/2022 19:51

I use the blue tin Nivea every night.
I slather it on face, neck, elbow, knees, hands and feet.
It soaks in overnight and my skin is lovely in the morning

My skin is menopausal and dry, sometimes scaly. It's awful after having a lifetime of blemish free, smooth skin and I've been searching for ages for a moisturiser that will work on my concerns, sometimes spending a bit over the top for stupid promises. A few months ago I noticed on a Sunday evening that I'd run out of moisturiser and I cant go without, so I popped to my local open all hours and found a Nivea moisturiser for £2. It was all they had so I bought it. OH MY GOD it's bloody amazing. Its not the traditional stuff my nan used to use (she had amazing skin) it's one with almond oil. I cant believe I didn't discover it sooner. It's also got an SPF so a big thumbs up for me for Nivea.

I use Nivea - not the blue one to be fair but the standard day cream with SPF 15 and the night cream and it is amazing for my skin.

@Spicybananas I think this is the one I recently discovered, I absolutely love it, it's so kind to my skin, and so inexpensive x

TabithaTittlemouse · 29/10/2022 20:17

I use it as a mask overnight.

SpookyMcGhoul · 29/10/2022 20:20

I use the giant blue tub! It's fab, it is the only moisturiser I'll use now. I use morning and night, it takes a bit of warming up but it's so good for my skin.

Sooverhalloween · 29/10/2022 20:30

I don’t use it in the morning as feel it’s too greasy. The ones who only use it at night, what do you use in the mornings?

@Sooverhalloween I double cleanse then use just a L'Oréal day cream with spf .

Millsbills · 29/10/2022 19:10

I don’t like using it, find it greasy and doesn’t sink in well

I find the same happens to me. It just sits on my skin and doesn't sink in.

Skethylita · 29/10/2022 20:42

I use it daily, straight after my shower - and yes, for me, it works really well - moisturising, but also leaving a bit of an underlayer for my makeup. But I have good genes and generally tend to look 10 years younger than my actual age, so I don't know how much the creme contributed. Have used it since I was early 20s, now closer to 40.

SpookyPanda · 29/10/2022 20:43

It's quite nice if my legs get particularly dry in the winter

LadyRoughDiamond · 29/10/2022 20:45

Great for knees, ankles, elbows etc when fake tanning. I also take a small tub on holiday for dry skin and patches of sunburn.

echt · 29/10/2022 20:46

What's clear here is that you don't have spend much money to get a decent moisturiser, just the one that suits your skin.

I use Nivea Soft.

TheVeryLastUsername · 29/10/2022 20:47

It’s a one way ticket to cystic acne to me, quite scented too if I recall correctly. Definitely one to avoid if you have sensitive skin.

ladyofshertonabbas · 29/10/2022 20:48

Absolutely loved it, until a fragrance allergy kicked in. The best.

Viostep · 29/10/2022 20:49

Nivea soft is great. I wouldn't use any other moisturiser. The blue tub one is a bit heavy for me

ChicCroissant · 29/10/2022 20:49

I use it on my face, I do have very dry skin so it suits me. I dot it on my face and pat it in, to warm it up a bit. It is good as a body cream as well, I use it on my hands sometimes.

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 29/10/2022 20:49

It's very hydrating for me. I like it but I have dry skin so anything thick like this, shea butter, astral etc is great for me.

Hydrated skin will look plumper...But if you want to help fine lines you need Retinol or Tretinoin - there's lots of research to support this.

bellsbuss · 29/10/2022 21:01

It takes far too long to rub in

CoodleMoodle · 29/10/2022 21:07

I can only use the Nivea that comes in the white bottle on my face. I have very dry and sensitive skin, and it's the only thing that doesn't burn! Even the normal blue bottle hurts, but I can use that in a pinch.

I thought they'd stopped making it awhile ago, because I couldn't find it anywhere. I eventually tracked it down and bought 4 bottles... I have no idea what I'll do if it does disappear!

greenacrylicpaint · 29/10/2022 21:08

I used to use it after a chemical peel.

but then I discovered weleda skin food. same sort of texture as nivea blue pot. but suits my skin better.

hamstersarse · 29/10/2022 21:09

I use it at night time, it’s heavy but it’s better than any other moisturiser I’ve used. It’s functional.

Mindymomo · 29/10/2022 21:17

My Mum used Nivea all her adult life, she hardly had any lines on her face. I remember using it as sun lotion (not recommended). I prefer Astral cream, both morning and nighttime, I find that for me Nivea just stays greasy and I don’t like the smell.

Username91 · 29/10/2022 21:17

JessieOh · 29/10/2022 19:18

I prefer the niven soft cream, find it sinks in much better and it smells divine.

Yes agree with this. I had dry, patchy skin on my face and it was really sore. Tried loads of things (lots of them pricey) and found that the Nivea soft was the only thing that didn’t make my face feel like it was burning. Skin is so much better now and it’s really cheap!

soberfabulous · 29/10/2022 21:18

I love it, use it once or twice a week. Also: sudocrem! Was recommended on here and it is brilliant for my skin. Seems to tighten it up and soften the texture.
