is there any saving this. My child (soon to be sent to a zoo) toon a bite out of my kitchen chair, it’s faux leather from Harvey’s (who incidentally have gone bust so my warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on).

im the least handy/ worst DIYer to have ever existed. But can this chair be saved (without resorting chair covers)? I’ve seen vinyl repair kits but I don’t know if they work on this type of fabric? Or if they are any good, I don’t want to make it worse

can anyone help me? Or do I have to buy 4 new chairs 😕

Any handy people please help me!!!!

I've seen car seat rescue videos on fb/YouTube. Worth a Google 🤞

Not sure if this is in jest, but if this is an honest post - does it really matter?

It's a funny story surely - it doesn't impact the utility of the chair whatsoever, children break things - mind over matter here I think

Well I’m not going to actually send the child to live in a zoo, so that was in jest but I’d like to repair my chair if I can, don’t see anything wrong in that

You can buy stretchy covers on Amazon that would hide this perfectly. We have 6 leather chairs that were clawed by kittens but structurally OK and we did this.

I think the in jest question was about buying 4 new chairs just because 1 has a mark

Jimbalaya · 28/10/2022 22:18

Search for leather filler. You can buy it in different colours. 🙂

I’d probably try scour the internet for a replacement chair first, then maybe look at getting covers with the medium to long term goal of replacing the chairs, it’s just so noticeable and looks awful, but I’d rather try and fix it so it’s less obvious

Would that work with the raggedy nature of the mark?

And on fake leather?

I'd probably leave it until child has grown out of taking bites out of furniture.

I’m considering a muzzle

A bit of Gaffer Tape will sort that, it usually comes in Grey. Just stick a bit on all of the other chairs and you've got a matching set. Sorted.

TheHateIsNotGood · 28/10/2022 22:50

You can even stick bits of it over bitey child's mouth and even your own mouth when you feel like screaming (tempory use only). Handy stuff is Gaffer Tape.

Can you see if you have an upholsterer listed in yellow pages near you? (Or is it online only at yell.com?)

It all depends on finances really. Might end up being cheaper to get a set of different chairs off marketplace or free cycle that are similar looking.

I’ve been looking for a (faux)leather solution for peeling on my office swivel chair.
I think with yours as it’s only a small area it’s worth a shot at repairing.
I’m leaning towards a kit on Amazon (£10) so not the end of the world if it doesn’t look 100% after. Plus one of the review photos looks similar to the damage on your chair.
