Dog shitting in my garden?

GoldChainBeneath · 28/10/2022 20:37

My living room faces the street and the pavement is about a car length away. Working in there this morning and noticed a woman on the pavement just stood staring at my house.

I walked over to the window and her dog was taking a shit in my front garden. Knocked on the window and she just shrugged in an apologetic way.

Is this quite a normal thing for all dog owners that you’ll let your dog shit anywhere? I’ve never owned a dog.

Unfortunately yes but if you criticise you get accused of dog hating

Pumpkinpatchlookinggood · 28/10/2022 20:38

It is an offence not to pick up your ddog's shit... If she refuses take her pics and shame on local fb.

AuntieDolly · 28/10/2022 20:38

Did she pick it up?

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 28/10/2022 20:39

No way would I let our dog do that

If he did then I would pick up...we carry numerous poo bags for that reason

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 28/10/2022 20:40

Was the dog on an extendable lead?

FurAndFeathers · 28/10/2022 20:41

Not normal at all.

I don’t let my dogs walk over people’s front garden then there’s no risk of them toileting

bigblueyonder · 28/10/2022 20:42

Nope, not on my watch (or in my garden). I would be out there with a big stick heading towards the dog with a lot of swearing. The dog would learn not to repeat that experience. Forget the owner, that will be a lost cause.

Cavviesarethebest · 28/10/2022 20:43

Did she pick
it up?

even if she did it’s poor form

cobblers123 · 28/10/2022 20:44

I had this during the summer. I went out to water the pots at the front and I saw a man on the shingle part of the garden. He was actually picking up the poo and apologised several times. I just said OK, thank you.

Few weeks ago as I got out the car, a pile of poo was on the shingle. Didn't see anyone this time, so may not have been the same dog but it's bloody annoying.

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/10/2022 20:45

I would never let my dogs take a dump on someone else's garden.

Dunnoburt · 28/10/2022 20:46

Did she pick it up? I'd be 😡

fortifiedwithtea · 28/10/2022 20:50

Not normal. We don’t let our dog walk on gardens. Better to pick up a poo from a hard pavement.

Trulyweird1 · 28/10/2022 20:52

God no. My dogs don’t get to wander into gardens, to poop or anything else. Nor do they get to pee on gates or car wheels etc.
Its not hard to train them.

Riverlee · 28/10/2022 20:54

I wouldn’t let my dog go on someone’s garden, and if they did wander over, I would clear the mess up (and feel very guilty).

This, bloody covid meant that every irresponsible twat got a dog and we all have to put up with it.

NubADubDUb · 28/10/2022 20:59

Did they at least pick it up?

GoldChainBeneath · 28/10/2022 21:05

She did pick it up. Whether she would have done if I hadn’t looked pissed off giving her the evil eye:

I guess my question is would it be the norm for you to allow your dog to shit anywhere if you pick it up?

OP posts:
JeniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 28/10/2022 21:14

No it would not be. I do not allow my dog to take a step on to someone's garden let alone anything else.

milawops · 28/10/2022 21:14

Doesn't matter if she picked it up. I have a dog and I wouldn't let her go into someone else's garden let alone take a shit in it. People like her are why people think dog owners are all entitled twats.

AlwaysLatte · 28/10/2022 21:25

Absolutely not on, In someone's garden!! Maybe put up a low wall so they can't get in?

Nap1983 · 28/10/2022 21:33

No I do not let my dog even walk on gardens. Not acceptable..

StoneofDestiny · 28/10/2022 21:38

I'd go bonkers if anybody let their dog walk on my garden, never minds shit on it! I keep my garden picture perfect to enjoy, not for dog owners to use! Whatever next.

Forfukzsake · 28/10/2022 21:38

If she picked it up I wouldn't care. Better than cats going all over the garden and me having to pick it up.

isitginoclock · 28/10/2022 21:39

I'd be mortified. When they need to go they need to go and it's hard to move them but if I saw mine starting to squat on a garden I'd try to pull him along before he got started. To be honest I wouldn't have let him on a garden in the first place. That's gross and you're in no way unreasonable.

CrystalCoco · 28/10/2022 21:41

No it's not good form to allow your dog to do it's business in someone else's garden (private property!) - even if they pick it up! - plus you can never pick absolutely all of it up, there's always a shitty little smear left behind! Why are you expected to put up with that in your own garden, it's bad enough coming across that (or worse) in the street.

I was out with a friend walking when her dog took a short cut across a neighbours chuckies (front garden) and then squatted for a pee, I honestly couldn't believe that she would let her dog just pee on someone else's property - she shrugged and said something like "yeah they probably wouldn't like that if they saw it" - just so rude!
