Hello, for those of you with teenagers, do your teens meet in person with their friends often? DD is 13 and whilst she spends lots of time talking to friends on her phone/FaceTime etc., she doesn’t actually meet up with them often. She says there’s nothing to do out and about and if they’re just hanging out chatting in their room, they can do that online. AIBU to think she’s missing out on human contact? She says that’s just an ‘old fashioned’ way of looking at it 😂. What are your opinions? Do your teens have lots of out-of-school physical meet ups with friends?

I think its quite normal now and lockdown made it even more normal. Tbh I would much rather them online taking to their friends in their room than kicking round the streets.

I think it's fairly normal. My teens do a mix of both, but definitely spend more time chatting online than in person.

It's hard for them to know what to do if they go out. They seem to end up just walking around in the woods and getting muddy. They are welcome here of course but I think they prefer their own space.

When I can afford it, I give them enough for a round of drinks in Costa!

Dd at that age didn't go out much. Now at almost 17 she is out loads shopping and parties and dinners.
Enjoy it while it lasts.

FGS what is up with everyone. Ask to have this moved to the teen forum

If she’s going to school she’s getting an awful lot of human contact so I wouldn’t worry if she’s at home a lot in the holidays . Mine went through different stages during teens of being out a lot and being home a lot so it may all change in 6 months anyway.
