Is it really necessary to start a thread....?

AIBU to think these kinds of responses are unkind and unnecessary?

It's a chat forum and IMO is at it's best when it's a bunch of friends musing. Why do people seem to think "chatting" about small things is somehow not what the site is for?

I've found, since DH died, I really miss someone to chat to about minutiae, especially little things that have bothered me. Previously I wouldn't make a point of seeking someone out to talk it over and I wouldn't have started a thread, but I would have got it off my chest when chatting to DH about our days.

Is it really incomprehensible (or unreasonable) that some people on MN just need a bit of a chat? The whole thing is a time hoover, why are people so offended and unkind about "pointless" threads?

Sorry for your loss, I have been reading mumsnet for a few weeks now and it’s like the mean girls from school have grown up and got nasty. Maybe it makes them feel better like one thread I am on someone spelt a word wrong omg they are going on and on it’s pathetic really . Seem the sort that have to be better than anyone else
