I would like responses detailing how you feel that the last 12 years of economic policy has affected you in ways that are unique or much more likely due to your sex.

Good and bad, please

To add if I am Unreasonable is no impact at all, makes no difference, reasonable if you feel a difference

The gender pay gap is worse.

Wealth inequality is worse and poverty disproportionately affects women

The nhs is a disaster- health outcomes for women are worse

I definitely agree that the NHS seems to have 'shrunk' and they (hcps) seem less concerned where they may once have taken action

That Diane Abbott is a ‘liability’ but Jacob Reece Mogg is ‘eccentric’. What
message does that send to young women interested in politics?

Well as a pregnant woman I am terrified about the state of maternity services and if I need an ambulance/dentist/GP/hospital stay at any point.

Are you far from the hospital? Friendly local taxi service? Has to be faster.

Our public services are so drained.. And to where??

Healthcare for women is terrible. Refuges have been cut to ribbons.
The two child cap and the rape clause.
Decimation of legal aid.

I could go on.

Chattycathydoll · 26/10/2022 21:24

Closure of Children’s Centres. They were a lifeline for me when DD was tiny, I don’t know how I would have coped. Now other women will simply have to.

OneFrenchEgg · 26/10/2022 21:25

Lost the child benefit? Four kids.

I understand the 2 child cap to UC. Actually I don't because we have a shrinking population, but I understand its part of Austerity Ideology

What is happening to women's refuges, though?

I think Tory policies impact the poor in general and poor women most, so there will be many on here able to answer from that perspective.

Thankfully, if anything I’ve benefited under Tory rule even though I’ve never voted for them.

sourcreampringle · 26/10/2022 21:27

Still cannot believe the rape clause is a thing :(

When you say the poor
What percentage of uk residents do you imagine?

@SuspiciousHedgehog yes I don't live far from the hospital and have my DH who can take me. But the closest maternity hospital has not got a good rating. The staff are great but you can just tell the facilities need investment and waiting times are long.

karalimed · 26/10/2022 21:29

I'm 30, the Tories came into power when I was 18.

I want to have children but I am terrified about the quality of maternity care, I don't want to be left to give birth alone is an understaffed hospital. The other day I was thinking about this, in the dark ages I would have at least had a local wise woman helping me.

I’d say the 15% of the population considered to be ‘low paid’

and those claiming benefits are impacted the most, some tory benefits cuts impact women disproportionally more than men too.

GCAcademic · 26/10/2022 21:31

Four years waiting so far for a hysterectomy.

Why do 75% think i am being unreasonable?

Our pay (government jobs) has lost its value year on year which means less of our investments go into DS's house deposit fund than if pay had kept up with inflation.

Left the EU, so we are now duel citizens so DS can still study abroad and we can still retire to the EU, overall cost of sorting that is north of 5k!

I was happy to hear of lower taxes but that has now been passed over and I worry that I spending cuts are going to come from part that matter to us (health, education and defence).

I'm glad they were in power to pull out of Iraq.

Then have an elective section

no reliance on poor maternity care during delivery which is the most dangerous part

I understand this. I am a bit older and already a mum, but no more babies under the tories. Coil firmly embedded.
Not surprisingly birth rates are reaching new lows

The WASPi Women. Having the rug pulled as to their State Pension entitlement, meaning many women, approximately 3.8 million, had to stay in work much longer than they planned.

LadyWithLapdog · 26/10/2022 21:34

Well, I was hoping to retire earlier. I still can, but will be losing a lot more money to do that.

EcoCustard · 26/10/2022 21:37

Maternity care from 2014-2019 was poor to awful and nearly had dire consequences for one of my children and myself. Healthcare since is non existent (including dental but that’s generally). Many economic decisions that have led to many childcare providers to close in the last 18 months, leaving too few in my area that have made it very hard to return to work or study for me and many others. The Tory council run leisure centre that closed the crèche which was my only way of accessing exercise classes/swimming post baby, it saved my sanity for 1 hour twice weekly after dc1. I nearly lost it after dc3 and it had an adverse effect on mental & physical health.

This! I’m 2 years older than you @karalimed and I’ve had 4 elective csections. Absolutely amazing care every time and incredible births and post natal care. Can’t pick a single fault.

In answer to the OP; I can’t say any difference? Didn’t the tories bring in universal free school meals for all infant children? If so, many have benefitted from that.
