Romantic stories please!

I love the slow burn, 'we can't because of x y z but I really love you' type of romance. Think the office or twilight or something like that. So romantic.

Does anyone have any good books or TV shows for me please? Or even better real life stories like does anyone know what happened to the poster who used to go jogging and saw the same man every week? I think they went for a drink ❤ 💙 💜 💖 💗 💘 ❤ ahh I can't stop smiling, thinking about it!
Oh i love love!

Ps has anyone actually found love in an office?

I met my husband in an office.

faunaandfun · 25/10/2022 12:06

Please elaborate
was it wildly romantic?
I met my dh as a teenager and it was pretty cringey rather than romantic so I feel a bit cheated and left out.

I met my husband in an office.

Me too. We're both accountants, our eyes met across a crowded spreadsheet.

ParentallyUnprepared · 25/10/2022 12:13

I met my husband at work.

Lots of romance books out there. A few I've read recently:
Books Lovers by Emily Henry
The Flat Share by Beth O'Leary
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Bridgerton Series

Here is a list of recent ones that are apparently good, look on Google or Reddit and you'll probably find loads. Just be aware that some (most?) Romance books have sex scenes in so if that's not your thing then be careful! The Flat Share doesn't.

He came in for a job interview and I thought he was cute. My boss couldn’t decide between him & another candidate so asked me to pick, obv I picked him. I was seeing someone else at the time but I soon ended it because he was a huge prick. I recall talking to him about it as he rode his Harley alongside me, he is a very experienced biker. Then he asked if I’d like to go to his house and have a few drinks? I thought he was joking and ignored him. He asked again. The tube wasn’t working, so I had to get the rail replacement bus, which took forever. We both got far too drunk, and had sex. The end lol. That was nine years ago. It was quite the office scandal at the time.

I met my Husband in a night club - he stood on my foot 🦶 as I looked up to upbraid him I saw the most beautiful man - instant attraction - I’d just come out of a disastrous relationship and had no intention of having another boyfriend/fiancé 🙄 ….. that was 42 yrs ago ❤️

Yes! That was the best part. Especially as some colleagues were convinced I had a thing for someone else (who I tolerated at best because he's a dick) and were most annoyed that they were way off the mark.

OP, I've already recommended this book today but try The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

faunaandfun · 25/10/2022 12:20

thanks for the recommendations (and warnings)

my dh is probably wondering what all of the 'awws' and giggles are about

My partner was working on a building next door (labourer), and kept coming in to my place of work, the second he walked through the door, I thought he was so handsome. I noticed everytime he went past the door, he'd have a look in, I just assumed he was seeing if anyone of his workmates was in here. He made some excuses about ordering parts and not being able to get them delivered, so asked if I could have them delivered to mine and would I be able to message him when they arrived, I didn't hesitate giving him my number, only thinking about it afterwards did it clock on that obviously the company he ordered from would message to say the items had come, so realised he'd not so sneakily given me his phone number. I waited for his items to be delivered (next day) and from then, we just got to texting, normal day to day stuff, then he came out with it and asked me on a date, he finally admitted what he'd done, and said he didn't think it'd work, and he was to shy to outright ask me for my number. I thought it was so sweet :-)

I met my husband at work. Our paths kept crossing about the place (huge work area) and we gradually got to know each other. Then I got a job in his department (so he was then my boss). During a few work get togethers we discovered that we had mutual friends and that we frequented a lot of the same places outside work even though we hadn't met at any of them.

I had to move into a house share and the other women were very weird so he offered me his spare room. We managed to keep it a secret at work for nearly a year till someone spotted us out and started the rumour mill. I was asked to 'reloacte' as 'having an affair' with the boss was frowned on.

That was 42yrs ago and we have been married for nearly 40

Ok I like my Grandma's story.
She was in the Waaf had a date arranged with Simon from a nearby barracks.
They were going to see a film she really wanted to see.
At the last minute Simon got cold feet and decided to stand her up. His room mate and best friend George felt sorry for the poor girl who would be left standing at the pictures on her own so decided to go along and tell her.
When he got there she was unphased by Simon not turning up but really wanted to see the film so she asked him to go in with her.
He did and that's the story of how she met my Grandad.

I was 21 and nursing a very badly broken heart. Met DH in a student nightclub and he asked me on a date. Well, that date ended up lasting the whole weekend - and by the Sunday night we both knew this would be forever. Still very much in love 31 years later.

GooglyEyeballs · 25/10/2022 14:44

I met my husband in the office, he was a security guard and I was a student, we didn't get together until after I left because we were worried we'd get in trouble. But we used to leave trinkets for each other on my desk so he'd find them on his night patrols and I'd find them in the morning. Little things like a paper clip folded into a heart or an origami bunny, a cupcake or a message. It's was the sweetest courting I've ever done with someone.

That’s the same as my MIL’s story. Very sweet 💕

Me and my husband were junior soldiers in our second phase of Army training when we first met. We genuinely met on the assault course. He helped me up a 12 foot wall and the rest is history. Grin
