Scared to hand notice in

I've just had a significant period of time off work. Going back today and need to hand my notice in as was offered a job on Friday. The time off work/illness was genuine and supported with surgeon letters and a sick note. Now I know what surgery I need to have to fix my pain I've been okayed to go back to work on light duties. New employer is aware of this and v supportive. Feel bad handing my notice in on my first day back. Just happened to see an amazing job and applied and was offered it! Don't really like my current job but my manager is likely to be really miffed. AIBU to be making myself anxious over this? I feel sick...

It's really not that big a deal. If it's what you want, go for it

I wouldn't worry about it, just hand it in! Congratulations on your new job 👋

It’s not a big deal. Just hand your notice in first thing. Job done.

Their miffed is not your problem. It is just coincidence that the two things happened at the same time.

I get where your coming from! But like what other posters will say, do it first thing when you get to work, trust me! I've been in a similar situation where I was worried about telling my manager something, I had the perfect opportunity to tell them first thing but I chickend out, and the longer I left it the more I kept thinking about it during the day and making myself even worse sick with worry! Get it over with and you'll feel much much better! And if your manager is miffed it's their problem not yours! Good luck!

Congratulations. The worst thing that can happen is that your manager sulks a bit and why would you care? You won't be around for much longer.
