Weaning issues help!

Posting so traffic. Dd is 6 months now and is showing no interest in weaning whatsoever. She has never been a very hungry baby - even now only has 25 ounces a day at the max. She is a CMPA baby if that makes a difference and has been on prescription milk since about 6 weeks old.

I have started to offer her different foods as per the NHS reformations (started with things like baby porridge and weetabix mixed with her prescription milk) and then a few different puréed fruits. She literally has no interest. Sometimes she gags or turns her head away. It's rare that she will actually get anything down. I haven't dropped any bottles because she isn't getting enough to make up for one.

I'm not in a rush to wean but I suppose I'm just worried in case she's missing out on added nutrients that she needs at this age. Has anyone got any advice or tips? Thank you

Have you tried something she could hold? Sandwich cut into strips, same with toast. A banana, cucumber in strips etc.

@Plumbear2 not yet, I have started with quite smooth, sloppy textured things that require spoon feeding. But she is the sort of baby that loves to explore with her hands and mouth so maybe this would work. As she's CMPA I need to be careful with what I offer too.

Just keep persevering.

I think it's quite normal for babies to not take to it immediately, it's a completely new concept for them.

We're just over a month in and it's getting better, but he still treats new foods with suspicion until he's had it a few times and a lot ends up on the floor/him/me.

Some babies find purées boring. I would try hunks of food she can suck such as slices of roasted pepper, peeled pear or banana. Maybe she would prefer something with a few soft lumps in such as mashed potato and carrot. Best to try mainly savoury foods first and keep away from salt, which you probably already know.

Try BLW, might excite her more and get her more interested

My baby isn't a hungry baby either.. I have to time it exactly an hour after his BF and give him something then.. any earlier he's not bothered, any later he just wants milk again! I also try to eat something with him, he seems to want it more then!

Though I'd also echo giving him things to hold :) my LO loves the baby wafers! He will put anything in his mouth though!

Does you LO watch you eat with interest? X
