Thank god for that.
I guess Sunak is the least bad option then.

OP posts:

So we will be led by 2 multi millionaire telling us how to scrimp and save.

MiniDinosaur · 23/10/2022 21:17

The only good news this week!

HeechulOppa · 23/10/2022 21:24

My prediction:

  • whoever becomes PM is set up for failure. Probably Sunak. The tories will be out at the next election, no doubt losing to Labour
  • Sunak will be ousted after ‘losing’ the election. Johnson will become Leader of the Opposition
  • Labour will be unable to fix everything/ enough in one term (who could??!!) The general public seem far less forgiving of Labour’s faults than of the Tories, and they will be out after one term. Tories back in.
  • Boris the hero of the hour, PM again, promising to fix the country (never mind that his party fucked it all up). People have short memories

Also, chinny reckon that he got 102 votes! I bet he knew he wasn’t actually going to get enough.

AnneLovesGilbert · 23/10/2022 21:26

I literally felt my shoulders relax when it popped up on my phone. Rishi’s got it in the bag. No member vote. Thank the good lord.

Greenshake · 23/10/2022 21:26

I wonder what’s gone on behind the scenes here

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 23/10/2022 21:27

Oh thank goodness for that

DesMoulinsRouge · 23/10/2022 21:27

He got only 60 backers so he knew it was over

Thedogscollar · 23/10/2022 21:28

Good news for the country but we still need a GE now.
Sunak and Co don't live in the real world either so we are still up shit creek.

Re your last sentence...see a message I sent a few minutes' earlier!

Someone gave him a good talking to, I'd think!

Keyansier · 23/10/2022 21:33

What does chinny reckon mean?

PestorPeston · 23/10/2022 21:33

NoWordForFluffy · 23/10/2022 21:32

Someone gave him a good talking to, I'd think!

And agreed to pay for another holiday.

Morceaux · 23/10/2022 21:34

Not like Boris to pull out…

GodInventedAmazon · 23/10/2022 21:37

I think I'd go for Penny at this point

HeechulOppa · 23/10/2022 21:37

@Keyansier chinny reckon was 90s slang for ‘yeah right’, basically 😆

Hopefully a very long one!

HeechulOppa · 23/10/2022 21:40

@NoWordForFluffy ummm the person who did has a different username, so … switching accounts?

DeliberatelyObtuse · 23/10/2022 21:41

"Someone gave him a good talking to, I'd think!"

I don't think anyone needed to give him a talking to. He didn't have 100 votes so couldn't progress. By withdrawing before the deadline he can lie and bullshit about it all but at least he's out.

And the other good news is all those dickhead Johnson supporters who came out in his favour are hopefully now finished. At last.

YorkshireIndie · 23/10/2022 21:42

Can Rees-Mog disappear at the same time???

NoWordForFluffy · 23/10/2022 21:43

Eh? I sent mine on WhatsApp.

HeechulOppa · 23/10/2022 21:45

Oooh I’m sorry, there was someone with a different username who made the same point who cross-posted with me - I thought you were suggesting that was your post so I thought it was a name-change fail situation!

Time for me to use the sleep (facepalm)

This is exactly what I think too.

WeAreTheHeroes · 23/10/2022 21:51

I think that behind the scenes both Rishi and Penny have told Boris to piss off, they are going to run and won't do a deal with him. He hasn't got the required 100 backers. That's yet another lie from him.
