Neighbourhood dog barking constantly

for hours on end sometimes until 1am is driving me fucking nuts. Honestly if I knew exactly where the barking was coming from I would go round and give the owner a mouthful, but I don’t so what am I supposed to do?

  1. Tell her about it.

  2. Report it to the council if she does nothing about it.

  3. White noise machine in the bedroom, and a sound bar for the TV.

You’ll have to locate the yapper to do anything.
Report to Council?

The owners are idiots, as dogs have been killed for barking by angry neighbours. ( Was in news)

An Australian woman had a yapper who paid the ultimate price - The dog was poisoned.
It’s not fair on dog or neighbours to let yapping continue.
Hope you can get it sorted.
(Dog owner who has quiet dog).

Since you don't know who the owner is or where the dog lives there's not much you can do.

If dog is barking during the day or reasonable time in the evening you could go for a walk and listen out to try to find house with the dog or ask your neighbours- if it's that noisy other neighbours will be getting disturbed too and someone may know. eventually you'll find dog then can report to council for noise

Local man lets his ddog out of a car at just before 6 am every single day - barks for up to 2.5 hours... . Been 2 years now. It's draining... Council can't do anything.. No such thing as anti social hours round here they claim.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 22/10/2022 22:10

Go for a walk and work out where the barking is coming from?

I can’t tell anyone about it because I don’t know where the dog and it’s owner lives. I’ve turned my TV up, but not too high because I don’t want to become the annoying neighbour! A white noise machine is a good shout though.

I would never hurt the dog-feel sorry for the poor thing-but could quite cheerfully throttle it’s inconsiderate, irresponsible arsehole of an owner!

I agree that you should go for a walk and try to locate the yapper’s address.

Full disclosure, my dog can be a yapper if he sees a squirrel in the garden. The difference is that we rush outside and get him in when he does this.

But, but it’s cold and dark out there😞. Seriously though I think I’m going to have to do that, but since sound tends to travel at night I’m not so sure it’ll be that easy to locate.

I've had this before and you can actually work out where it's coming from if you go for a walk. I'm my case it was actually further away than I thought.

Oh my last dog- may he rest in peace-used to love barking at the local wildlife too, especially the night time fox visitors. Like you and other considerate dog owners though I called him in as soon as he started those shenanigans.

The barking actually stopped minutes after I posted. Maybe the culprit is on Mumsnet 👀.

I mean the dogs owner, not the actual dog of course haha.
