Posting in AIBU for traffic

Iv got my driving lesson today and I'm panicking already I suffer from anxiety and I really desperately want to pass! To top it off it's raining like crazy today!

I need some words of advice and some kind words if I do fail which I already think I am going to make a silly mistake 😩😭😭😭

Good luck OP.

caramac04 · 20/10/2022 11:37

Good luck, a few deep breaths and focus

Tiredmumno1 · 20/10/2022 11:38

Do you have any bananas?

I heard they are supposed to help calm your nerves.

I'm sure you'll be fine.

ZombeaArthur · 20/10/2022 11:39

My instructor and I drove for over an hour before my test which helped get the worst of my nerves out of the way before my test. I also used breathing exercises to calm me down. I made a mistake early on and was convinced I’d failed so I decided just to have the best drive I could. Luckily my mistake was only a minor and I passed first time.

Just go out and do the best you can, you wouldn’t be put forward for your test if you weren’t ready. Good luck.

Good luck. It really is horrible driving today. If you're seeing your instructor before the test ask for advice - the rain's so torrential here that most of us are driving down the middle of the road if there's nothing coming, and extremely slowly through flooded roads otherwise - thankfully not many pedestrians out. Hopefully your examiner will be sympathetic to the fact that you're unlikely to have done much driving in the rain this summer.

whatdoidonowffs · 20/10/2022 11:41

Deep breaths take it steady you know how to do it good luck

Aposterhasnoname · 20/10/2022 11:41

Test or lesson? If test, then try and forget it’s the test. If you think you’ve made a mistake, don’t dwell on it, it might not be as bad as you think.

strawberryblue · 20/10/2022 15:58

I failed 😭😭😭😢 one major fault two minors

HangOnToYourself · 20/10/2022 15:59

Bad luck OP, I failed twice because nerves got the better of me. I hope you can get another slot soon

KangarooKenny · 20/10/2022 16:00

Keep going. It took me 3 goes. No shame in it.

Northernsoullover · 20/10/2022 16:01

Its shit failing but make sure you re-book. I failed four 😔. Ask your GP if you can get some beta blockers for your next test. I wouldn't have passed without them.

SirenSays · 20/10/2022 16:03

Don't get disheartened, first time passes are becoming pretty rare. My friend just went for her test and only one person from her group passed that day.

thelobsterquadrille · 20/10/2022 16:05

I'm so sorry OP.

My driving instructors' advice was to have a banana and two paracetamol beforehand, and to wear my hair in a ponytail so that when you check your mirrors, they see your head move.

strawberryblue · 20/10/2022 16:28

Thank you all for your kind words x I will be rebooking just feel like a real failure (literally!!)

Floydthebarber · 20/10/2022 16:35

Op that's not a bad fail though! The major I am assuming you won't make the same mistake next time and then you only had 2 minors.

Saladd0dger · 20/10/2022 16:37

I failed last week as well op. My own stupidity. The nerves were horrendous before hand. We will get there x

DeePlume · 20/10/2022 16:44

Keep going!! I passed on my 6th try!

DeePlume · 20/10/2022 16:45

Also agree with pp re the beta blockers! You don't even need to speak to your gp. You can get them from online doctors services.

girlfriend44 · 20/10/2022 16:53

What was your major and did the rain keep off?

Don't tell anyone next time then you won't feel any pressure and they won't know if you failed.

McPie · 20/10/2022 16:58

Banana, paracetamol, Kalms and rescue remedy got me through my test in 2020! Good luck when you try again🍀
