Supporting local charity at Christmas

Not AIBU but posted for traffic.

Are you intending to or do you already support local charities at Christmas? I know it's important all year round but at Christmas my family do a 'secret Santa' and this year we are donating the money to a charity who provide support to children living in poverty in our local area. They are appealing for hats, jackets and duvets etc this year more than ever. Usually I support a toy appeal and donate small amounts throughout the year also.

I appreciate not everyone is in a position to support a charity, I'm just wondering if people generally do.

Lovely ideas, OP.

I'm, sadly, not able to afford contributing financially, so instead send 5 handwritten, homemade and decorated cards to my local homelessness charity's Christmas dinner.

Along the lines of "Dear friend, please know I'm wishing you well today and that the coming year brings you an easier time..." etc. etc.

They can then slip them inside the 'winter warmer' gift of thermal gloves and socks the charity gives out.
