Ok I know I shouldn't ask people to diagnose but I'm just looking for stories of anybody who may have had similar.

Been feeling absolutely rotten for 13 days, tested positive for covid on Sunday. When I saw the dr on Sunday he also said I had a chest infection so put me on antibiotics.

Started to feel slightly better Monday and Tuesday but still couldn't get out of bed. Then last night woke up with a really bad fever again and this morning I've got white puss filled spots all over my tonsils.

Wondering if anyone else has had covid cause a chest infection and tonsillitis or is it just rotten luck and nothing to do with covid?

Yes. When I was pregnant I got Covid which developed into a chest infection, sinusitis and tonsilitis - very common with any respiratory virus to develop into those bacterial infections. I wasn't able to have any antibiotics due to a combination of an allergy to penicillin and my pregnancy so was given a steroid inhaler and had to power through. Took about six weeks to clear it with my immune system alone - and then I got Covid again as soon as I was feeling better!!

But, yes, very common and normal. Stick with the antibiotics. Get well soon.

@GlassesWearer thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear you felt so poorly when pregnant!

I'm just waiting for the Gp to call me back to see if I need stronger antibiotics

If you can gargle, make up a solution of a half pint of cooled boiled water and a desert spoonful of salt, gargle until it’s all gone.
Salt is an antiseptic.

Spoke to the dr and they said they can't give any more antibiotics as it can take 5 days for them to kick in, despite me being on day 4 of a day 5 course and feeling much worse. I'm so breathless that climbing up and down the stairs or even getting out of bed is a struggle and now I'm getting black dots in front of my eyes every time I stand up like I'm going to pass out.
Really don't know what to do

Have you got an oxy meter?

Have you got an oxy meter?

Unfortunately not as mine broke a couple of months back and I stupidly kept forgetting to replace it! Wish I had now

I'm an asthmatic and I find the key sign of really needing medical help with a chest infection (I get lots) is not being able to sleep unless I'm propped upright. How's your sleep?

LemonsAndCherries · 19/10/2022 10:17

Order an oximeter on Amazon if you can. At least you'll have it by tomorrow.

Nights have been a nightmare for sleep but partially for the breathing and partially just from feeling so poorly. I'm also asthmatic so I've been taking more of my blue inhaler but it doesn't make much difference

Have you felt better since you're up? I'm always worse at night. I might be inclined to call back if there's no improvement
