Disney Paris, how much?

Relocatiorelocation · 18/10/2022 11:30

I know IABU to ask here, but I've looked on the FB groups etc and it's clear as mud.

Family of 4, 2 adults 2 under 10s. I imagine we'd want 3 or 4 day there, staying in a Disney hotel maybe with a meal plan. I'm thinking about 3k over one of thr half terms, does this sound about right once travel and spending money is factored in?

Is 3 days / 2 nights ok? Or will a day longer be better? I don't know the joy vs stamina needed ratio!

I never use the hotels. We are going again next week. 220 for the flight hotel in Torcy (3 stops on the train) 210 and 2 days tickets 380. Train tickets are about 28 quid for the 2 days. It would have been cheaper for tickets had we of not been going school holidays!

I don't find food expensive when we are there but then neither of us are big eaters and we grab mcdonalds most the time. This is for 2 of us. I am taking 200 spending money.

Total around £1000 for the 2 of us but will probably not spend the full £200 spending money and will use that when we go to Spain.

Disney is what you make of it. If you want lavish food it can cost a fortune but I am all for grabbing some chips snacks and drinking plenty of water.

ButterflyBiscuit · 18/10/2022 18:40

We're going ina. Few weeks and actually found (by booking as soon as they were released) the hotel + tickets cost similar to the tickets price. We have for of us for 2 nights/days for £680. Were going to stay at a cheap hotel night before/after and go to Paris too.

ExcaliburBaby · 18/10/2022 18:40

I’d do 3 nights if possible - you might struggle to do both parks in 2 days esp now the Avengers campus is open.

staying in a Disney hotel will mean you are within walking distance and also you’ll get the extra magic hours at the start of the day which is great for doing some of the rides that have bigger wait times. You can really hammer the rides in that hour!

if meeting characters is something you want to do then consider a character breakfast as you’ll meet 4/5 in that time.

meal plans are better value but depends if you want to spend time sitting down eating or if you’d rather just eat on the go - we took stuff for breakfast in the rooms with a brew than grabbed snacks in the park and had macdonalds or pizza for tea.

don’t forget to research the new fast pass system as think it’s changed now

lots of money saving tips online - good luck

ButterflyBiscuit · 18/10/2022 20:24

I meant 3 days in my case. 2 nights/3 days - both parks. 680! I was thinking a day in each park then a day mopping up too.

How was the Avengers campus - was it good? How long does it take?

We will also have an access card/whatever its called (autistic child) but we will also need to break regularly.

TheClitterati · 18/10/2022 20:35

When I took Dc we spent very little in the park. We had meal plans& refilled water bottles. We don't snack much and the 3 meals a day were lots of food.

We had 4 days and n the park & spent:
3 ice creams - about 4 euro each
3 Micky ear head band s - about 25 euros each.
Some cold coins - 2 euros each.

Kids had some euros to spend in the shop. However much you want To spend.

I brought lots of euros back with me.

Nissalabella · 18/10/2022 21:03

We spent 2 nights at the Explorers Hotel last week @CurlsLDN , it’s great for kids, everything is pirate themed and the rooms are set up with bunk beds each with a little reading nook. The soft play was closed while we were there but the outdoor play area is brilliant and the pool was epic, it’s open til 23h every night so there were tons of hyped up kids whizzing down the slides every night while the exhausted parents had drinks in the lounge 😂
We didn’t do it but there were lots of people stocking up every morning with breakfast items to take with them into the park to save money, breakfast is an all you can eat buffet with lots of bread based options!
Just one thing, the shuttle bus gets manic in the evening so be prepared to fight your way on and off, luckily it’s only about 10 mins away from the parks but it’s insane😂
Have a great time!

Nissalabella · 18/10/2022 21:06

We went for 2 days last week which was amazing, great weather and we got to do lots of rides. My top money saving tip was from a friend, she recommended going on Vinted before we left and buying some Mickey ears, t shirts second hand etc which I did. They cost me a fraction of what I would have paid in the park and I’m now going to sell them on, we ended up only spending about 30€ on souvenirs thanks to her!

Pigsinmuck · 18/10/2022 21:12

We are about to do our second trip this year.

3 full days is good for us. 4 days if they need to include the travel.

We spent £800 last time as a family of 4. That included all meals and £140 on the airport transfers.

We never have a meal plan as we don’t like to waste time sitting down for long meals. We often have breakfast to go so we can be in the parks early. We just pay as we go for food and like the flexibility that we eat when we are hungry and what we fancy at the time.

we have paid £1000 for 3 nights 4 days In Sequoia lodge in June, and £1200 for the same but in December. Flew in June but are driving via Eurotunnel in December.

Bunnycat101 · 18/10/2022 21:29

You can spend a lot if you want an on site hotel. That was well worth it for us with the pool, extra magic hours and smaller children. We tended to do the parks in the morning and come back in the afternoon for a rest and a swim. Food again will vary depending on what you want to do. Princess dining is £££, a burger won’t be as much.

we didn’t buy a meal plan as it would have been cost neutral for us. With a plan you’re tied in. One night we were knackered, it was torrential rain and couldn’t be arsed to go to our dinner reservation. We got room service instead but if we’d have had the plan, I wouldn’t have felt able to waste the credit.

mummyof2boys30 · 18/10/2022 21:36

We are going next June. Fussy eaters so no meal plan. Most adult means are 15-€20 for counter service which will suit us better. Mostly burgers and chips but its only for a few days. Booked flights ourselves 450 return and davy crockett ranch for 3 nights 4 days for 1100.Still to book carhire and we also intend staying few nights either side to do paris and get most out of park ticket

GuybrushT · 18/10/2022 22:02

Like PPs, I agree that I wouldn't go for a Disney hotel but save the money and go to one nearby with a shuttle bus. We stayed at the hotel magic circus (right by the explorer's one mentioned by others) and couldn't recommend it highly enough, it was fab!

Relocatiorelocation · 19/10/2022 07:34

Thank you all so much for the replies, lots to think about. I'd thought the Disney hotels were almost compulsory for the extra time in the park etc, but it seems most manage without it.
I especially like the tip of buying the ears and accessories ahead of time....I do get wound up by the overpriced tat in theme parks, so this tips is definitely for me.

I would absolutely go for a Disney hotel. I find it gives a much more Disney feel to the whole experience. You can walk to the parks and it’s a lovely walk through the Disney Village, you get characters in your hotel, access to the park for early magic hours and no need to fight the awful shuttle bus fight at the end of the day. You can also pop back to the hotel for a break if you choose.

I don’t find it much more expensive than buying tickets and paying for an off-site hotel.

mummyof2boys30 · 19/10/2022 07:57

There's a few fb pages which are great for advise. Disneyland paris for brits

Aprilx · 19/10/2022 08:42

I have recently been, but there was only two of us. We spent about £2k for four nights at Newport Bay and Eurostar travel, I didn’t really count up food costs. Some restaurants are very expensive, particularly those in the parks, but there are cheaper options as well, so there is no real answer to that.

I would rethink the 3days / 2 nights because 2 nights does not mean three days, it means only one day and two bits of a day. I would be thinking more like four nights, which would realistically mean two full days and one or two partial days depending on your travel times,

Aprilx · 19/10/2022 08:46

To add, I like being onsite for the convenience but not sold in the extra morning time. We have tried it a couple of times but there are big queues to get in and then a lot of rides are not up and running anyway (even those that should be). It is like they really don’t take it seriously and are doing you a favour by getting the rides going, as opposed to ensuring they are ready.

popandchoc · 19/10/2022 08:47

We went in 2019 and stayed in Santa Fe . It was so worth it for the extra magic time and being able to go back in the afternoon . We got half board as part of the package but I wouldn’t pay extra for it .
we are going again next year and is a lot more expensive but staying at Newport pay .
we did 3 nights 4 days last time which was perfect so doing same again this time .

popandchoc · 19/10/2022 08:48

Also I would recommend the character dining as saves you queuing for hours .

Jarline · 19/10/2022 13:01

We have been quite a few times, so I can hopefully help.
The time of year will obviously impact - October half term for the Halloween festival is obviously more expensive than say February half-term.

Pricing is difficult because you can cut right back and do it for much less, or go all out and spend a fortune.

We have always stayed in Disney hotels, purely for the convenience and the extra magic hours, but our kids are early risers and are always ready for it! They love the characters in the Disney hotels in the evenings too.

Depending on flight times we make it work that we have three full days in the parks. If we need to we stay either side of our Disney booking in Campanile Val de France, basic hotel but more than adequate and they have lots for the kids.
Meal plans - we have gone with and without and aren't taking it next time, we found that it worked out a lot of money for say breakfast when really we just wanted a coffee and toast. Last time we ended up using meal vouchers in quick service restaurants which defeats the purpose.

Definitely bring snacks, there is a lot to pack in so we found we could manage the onset of hanger if we were queueing.
I bring those little concentrated juice bottles and add a little to water bottles too, my two dont like fizzy drinks so it made plain water a bit more appealing.

We have always booked through Magic Breaks, their customer service has always been spot on for us and it took the pressure off. We book flights and transfer seperately.

3k sounds absolutely doable, ours usually comes in about 2.5k with an offsite additional night, character dining, food, and spending money.

If you have any questions just PM me!

Pugalicious · 19/10/2022 13:09

As someone who has been with family approx 8 times and stayed in the hotels on site and would love to go again as there is nowhere quite like it, we found the hotels are a massive part of the magic.
If you can afford it The Disneyland hotel is fab but The Newport Bay is equally as good - a short but lovely walk away.
I like to eat in the hotel but it all becomes very expensive so I save up knowing it will hit me in the pocket - hard.

BernieBarks · 19/10/2022 13:15

Have you looked at deals that some travel companies do travelling by coach ? I know that for some people that sounds horrendous but you can get some really good deals .
I took my two in the February half term . We had three nights and two full days at DP , staying at the Disney Dream Castle . Breakfast was included. It cost just under £1200 .
I bought Disney clothes , Mickey ears etc over here (Primark , EBAY) and gave them to the kids when we got there .

BernieBarks · 19/10/2022 13:16

Sorry , forgot to add . Took lots of snacks with us .

Calandor · 19/10/2022 13:32

NCFT0922 · 18/10/2022 12:18

I would budget 5k. 2 nights / 3 days will be fine. Try and get a meal plan as it works out cheaper.

£5000 for 3 days?? Jesus. We spent £3000 all in for 10 days in Disney Florida for 2 adults on site with meal plan in 2018. With flights!

Mommabear20 · 19/10/2022 13:33

If you look on the website, you'll be able to get a more specific idea of price for the actual holiday.
We always allocate 20€ per person per meal, but that is only for the quick service restaurants (we prebook breakfast in the hotel when booking the hotel, flights etc). Most of the quick service places do 'meals' which vary from 15€-20€, and that includes the main part (burger, hotdog etc, side fries, salad etc, a drink and a dessert. We don't usually spend the full 20€ each at every meal, but that gives us a buffer and peace of mind that we have enough money. For snacks, I'd definitely recommend taking prepackaged snacks with you, we find about 3-4 a day per person depending on their size, as the snacks in the parks are very expensive, but I would definitely treat yourself once of twice because they are nice and cute.

Take a refillable water bottle with you and fill it up at the drinking fountains to save money on drinks.

As for spending money, I would recommend watching some YouTube videos (sam4god is great!) about shop tours as they usually give prices for different items, so you can get an idea of what the items you might like to purchase , cost.
