So this is the time. I feel like I want to start yoga/pilates. I am not at the best shape and little overweight, never done it before so need something for beginners.
there is SO much on youtube and instagram. I feel completely lost and overwhelmed.

I thought out of all of you here, there must be some people who can help! Anyone knows easy straight forward, not boring channels I can start with?

thank you all good people!

keep your fingers crosses

Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube. It's free. She's lovely. You can probably narrow your search further with terms like
Gentle yoga
Beginners yoga
Calm yoga
Etc.
Enjoy 😊

I like yoga with Kassandra. Adrienn's voice gets on my tits.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2022 23:25

Ah, glad I saw your second post. I was going to say it's a good idea to have at least one or two actual Pilates classes so you understand the basics like whether you're properly in neutral spine. I do 2x zoom classes a week, so there's no wasted time travelling and faffing around but obviously they're not free.

Kite22 · 17/10/2022 23:39

I was also going to say Yoga with Adrienne.
Free, so you can give her beginners stuff a go for a while to see how you get on.

I like Boho Beautiful - free on YouTube

CassandraBarrett · 18/10/2022 11:45

I also like Kassandra.
I think Boho Beautiful videos can be very ambitious without providing modifications for the less flexible among us! She used to be an Olympic gymnast I believe

unvillage · 18/10/2022 18:26

I've really enjoyed Nourished Natasha's videos for accessible beginner yoga. She's lovely.

AffIt · 18/10/2022 18:36

I know you say you can't afford regular classes, OP, but with Pilates in particular it is useful to try to at least one to begin with, as the forms are structured and it's good to have an expert to at least show you where to start.

Tulipomania · 18/10/2022 18:39

I think Pilates is better taught in a class as technique is so important.

cowandchickensmum · 18/10/2022 19:35

Where abouts are you? You would be surprised lots of cheap gyms offer classes. I started doing pilates and yoga a few months ago, classes. Helped me a lot. I'm not very good at it though 😂

Twizbe · 18/10/2022 19:39

Check out your local Buddhist centre. Ours does pay as you can yoga classes. If you can't afford them you can go for free and they have them at various times of day.

Other than that, look up beginners vinyasa yoga. Learn the salutations first and then explore other poses.

The key with yoga is to listen to your body and not try to be as flexible as the teacher on the first go.

AnxietyLevelMax · 18/10/2022 20:15

Thanks all! My little munchkin just fell asleep and i am off to try some suggestions out!
