Unusual priorities

Ok. I know this will last about 3 minutes but…

In the last day or so I’ve seen many, many vile posts on mumsnet:
’you’re a weirdo’
’sick cunt’
’moron’
’deranged’
’fuck off’ etc etc

Yes, if they’re reported the usually get deleted. They’re up for a while though.

At the weekend a lot of people spent a lot of time supporting (what turned out to be a troll). I spent all morning wondering if she was ok. The post I’ve just put up asking about her has been deleted within about 2 minutes.

Seems weird that you can call someone a cunt and it’s there for hours, yet express concern and ask a question and poof.

OBVIOUSLY I will now be expelled, but just wanted to have a mown before so.

Mumsnet - your priorities are 💩

I feel so stupid for giving advice.

I've asked if mumsnet hq could give some kind of explanation but it doesn't seem likely so I'll just go back to feel like the stupid weirdo.

7eleven · 17/10/2022 15:25

You’re not a stupid weirdo. I also don’t think it was unreasonable of me to ask about her.

Of course, if there was cause to suspect her she needed to be deleted. I agree that an acknowledgment about the situation from mumsnet would have been helpful.

If questions asked about her are immediately taken down, how do people know she’s a suspect. I’ve been blinking thinking about her day!

I have a feeling they respond more quickly when there are lots of reports. They're also much quicker on weekdays than weekends.

I actually reported her myself as I was a bit dubious. At that time they said they had no reason to suspect it wasn’t real. Fair enough they changed their mind, but blinking allow us to ask about it!

Hey @7eleven we're likely to only see something once it's reported but in our experience, it's unlikely a personal attack of that nature would go very long without being reported tbh. We'll generally remove a thread about deleted thread - it encourages further trolling and keeps argument going but we are happy to answer any questions about our decisions if you get in touch with us directly.

The thread you're referring to - we like to give people the benefit of the doubt where possible and initially there was nothing concrete that suggested the OP wasn't genuine but later on we took a different view (when they started further threads, basically).
