My Hand Still Hurts

I, over the summer, played walking touch rugby at my daughter’s rugby club. It was brilliant and I had a great time every week.

Mid September we were playing the 3rd last week (we stop when it’s getting dark and we are in NE Scotland) and I tried to catch a ball, ball at speed hit my ring finger and pinkie finger, tried to catch, high speed collision with the all, fingers bent back.

Shook it off but it definitely hurt.

definately very sore at the knuckle joint of my 3rd and 4th finger.

went to minor injuries (had an appointment) they xrayed it and said no break, stap my pinkie to my ring finger for a couple of days.

I did that but I couldn’t work really well and after all I had been told just a sprain.

we are now 4 weeks on on its still very painful. When I put my hand together my pinkie still sticks out and it’s still sore.

but after 4 weeks I can’t do minor injuries. Do I ask for a sacred GP appointment..?? Do I just leave it as 4 weeks is reasonable to be in pain…

I just want my hand to stop hurting- I was essentially told there wasn’t an injury really but after 4 weeks it’s still painful.

Sprains can take 6-8 weeks to heal. They do hurt quite a lot.

Try to rest your hand and take painkillers, particularly ibuprofen as it's anti inflammatory

If it was a sprain or stretched ligament injury it can take months and months to heal. Far longer than a break. Mine on my fingers took about 18 months to stop hurting completely and I was seeing an osteopath towards the end as I was so fed up of the pain.
