If u had a family member cut u out of their life for no reason, hasn't seen or spoken to u for years, would u want them turning up to see u at hospital when u were about to have a major operation.
I think it's a bit of a cheek but dunno if I'm wrong.

Yeah its a cheek and potentially adds more stress.
But maybe they selfishly want to make amends as they feel that if something happened they don't their last treatment of you to be the last.

I’d tell them to fuck off. You don’t need the extra stress. Being in hospital made me very emotional.
