AIBU?
King Charles should just sack Truss
katmeouws · 16/10/2022 01:00
Cant King Charles just sack Truss? Wouldnt that be a popular move?
Am I being unreasonable?
AIBUYou have one vote. All votes are anonymous.
katmeouws · 16/10/2022 01:06
According to google, it happened in 1834!! Its possible.
Bigslippers · 16/10/2022 01:09
Well technically speaking he has the powers do so so but as head of state he has to remain neutral
I sense a vote of no confidence for Truss though
LeMoo · 16/10/2022 01:14
🤨
It's late, but I'm struggling to think of a single thing which hasn't improved since then.
OK, I'll give you climate and general environment.

I do wonder how the Tory members who voted Truss over Sunak are feeling. I appreciate that she gave them info they wanted to hear. However, it was obvious that her policies were never going to work and the members were given plenty of warnings.
Precipice · 16/10/2022 01:17
Hmm, well at least it might lead to the monarchy being dissolved quickly.

We didn't even have one man, one vote in 1834. I can only guess but surely all the reform enacted since then will prevent the monarch from doing this?

I’m normally pretty anti American but she makes the most dumbfuck US presidents look Mensa. Guy Fawkes got any living decedents?
HighlandPony · 16/10/2022 01:57

@HighlandPony Kit Harrington, I think
Haha! Right… I can probably get my hands on gunpowder. Anyone else got the fuses? No? No one?
LeMoo · 16/10/2022 01:59
I don't think you need to go to the trouble of blowing up the HoP, they're falling down anyway.
LeMoo · 16/10/2022 02:01
Truss will be ousted by her party before much longer. I'm not really sure if that's better for those who believe the Conservatives should no longer govern or not.
Hibernationsetting · 16/10/2022 02:01
So there’s this phrase… “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should”.
he could, but he really shouldn’t- and I would say definitely wouldn’t.
MintJulia · 16/10/2022 02:04
I don't think he'll need to trouble himself. It'll happen naturally by the new year.
His 'dear, oh dear' comment gave me the best laugh in a distinctly unfunny month. Nice to see he's inherited his df's comic timing. 😁
TooBigForMyBoots · 16/10/2022 02:18
YANBU @katmeouws. That would be fucking hilarious.😂😂😂
LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 16/10/2022 02:20
The monarchy should never, ever get involved in politics like that. the Queen never did and retained her popularity as a result
mathanxiety · 16/10/2022 02:23
He can't.
The Monarchy is a polite fiction. The Monarch does nothing in the political sphere without the instruction of Parliament.
The king couldn't even attend the recent global environmental conference because the government told him he had to stay home and keep his mouth shut.

If she gets ousted (or when), then there will be a long drawn out process again, right? To select a new PM? Seems mad.
RoseAndRose · 16/10/2022 06:58
Hell yeah!
I really want a constitutional crisis on top of everything else!
the80sweregreat · 16/10/2022 06:59
It'll really be taking the pee if they have a ' caretaker ' PM in charge for two years !
Not sure what King Charles could do , but even he must see that would be a ridiculous situation.
